Oh Man , really sorry to see this , i really hope you are all right.
I tried to buy a Yaris last week , that was written off it had way less damage than that , but had side airbags that had deployed.
Best of luck

Thanks guys. Doc says I check out pretty much OK, but will be stiff in the morning.
The wife likes that idea

I'll let you know how things go - car AND driver. I don' tthink you'll get rid of me that easily.

Where was Bambo?
Bambo was safe and sound at home. No worries.
I had the car taken to the dealer's body shop, on the basis that a) it was only 2 years old, and b) they would be WAY more willing t ototal it so they could sell a new one....

Really sad part is that I had JUST filled the tank.

Glad to hear you're ok.. As most have said, you'll probably be best off with a new car :( Even after 5 grand in repairs, there's no guarantees on the frame stability.

If the insurance wants to total, go for it and take an 09. Put your factory wheels back on before they take it away and sell the 1 good rim. Take the proceeds from that and get some accessory on the new one. (or buy a lottery ticket!)

You walked away and that's great. Considering that the van could easily be more than 2x your weight, you did pretty well.

Best wishes and keep us posted...

i would let them get rid of the 1 good wheel and i would keep the whole extra set of stock wheels
