It's built off the same platform as the Mazda 2 - It's been out in Oz for well over a year now, and is surprisingly impressive to drive (even for a Ford). My partner's grandparents have the Zetec (sports model) and it's great! From what I've seen here the tested fuel economy is around 6.1L/100km for the petrol, the ECOnetec gets around 3.7L/100km (beating the Mini Cooper D and the Prius) for mixed driving.

you mean Abrath aka 'melted and squashed Multipla' ?

looks like a Beetle and a Yaris and a Multipla collided in the Enterprise transporter beam

Canada still uses the old EPA test method. I find that if I drive with a lead foot, I may go above the city rating by a bit, but I usually stay well under it with 2,500 rpm shifts. Hwy ratings are not hard to beat by 10% if you keep under 65mph. Of course with the new USA ratings, I'm a complete hypermiller. :)

FORD-DROF -- Found On Road Dead, Driver Returned On Foot.

That said I am excited about the new Euro spec Fords coming over here. I still prefer the Yaris over the Fiesta but the Focus is going to be niiiice.

The Toyota iQ is coming to America. It's going to be the 2011 Scion iQ.

Gets +56 MPG... looks like a cross between a Yaris and Smart Car.

For a car of that size, they made it a 4 seater. Now you can't ride the HOV lanes that list 3 people for 2-seater cars.

Is that mostly on a flat highway? What's your average speed on the highway?

the 2000 5 speed CHEVROLET Prizm ( COROLLA ) we owned could nearly equal the YARIS in mileage . Best tank was 43.5 . Used GULF 93 octane w/ a bottle of TECHRON , 14 " COOPER Trendsetter SE tires set at 35 p.s.i. , regular PENNZOIL 5w-30 , REDLINE MT-90 a true 75w-90 ( GL-4 ) synthetic for manual tranny , MOBIL 1 A.T.F. for power steering ( big improvement in steering response ) , and VALVOLINE synthetic brake fluid for clutch . The weather was very warm and humid at that time . 2 people for most of time and probobly about 35% city and speeds over 70 miles per hour on interstate . Remember this because we were looking to possibly buy a new 2002 PRIZM .

Here in holland the IQ is even more expensive then a entry level Yaris. It's suposed to be a 3+1 (3 adults and 1 child) but i can't imagine it's comfortable, better use it as a 2 seater and use the rear bench as a trunk. I drove the IQ but it doesn't handle as well as the Yaris.
As for the 500 abarth the ESP kills alot of the fun (it still is a sweet looking car).

It's a Ford. As with most of their products, they don't have the superior reliability that Toyota is known for. The true test will be in 10 years when we see how this model has held up. I know my Yaris will still be going strong, so it isn't a gamble. You would do better to flush your money down a toilet rather than buy a Ford.

it is a European ford. There is a massive difference. I still wouldn't get it over my yaris, but ford of europe has brought some amazing products to bear, just not to here, sadly.
