just get a good one like magnaflow or borla. they use chambers to cancel noise, not baffles like stock.

None as quiet as stock...but
I can say I've heard the fujitsobu (or however its spelled) and I've owned the tanabe medallion touring for a few thousand miles, and both of them are a deep, relatively quiet tone.
Not quiet as stock, but not fart cans at all! And you can always cut the super douche-bag tip off, I know I did! |

i own a fujitsubo and its very quiet. I really have to floor it at low rpm to hear something. After 4k rpm the engine noise takes over. im happy with it.
**i have the fujitsubo for the Vitz RS. It sits higher it will rub against the stock USDM bumper, so i think you might have to get the fujitsubo for the 1.3L, since the bumpers for US and their lower grade sits at the same height. ^fujitsubo RS muffler rubbing against USDM bumper |

its a universal muffler, so u need to have the shop bend the 2" pipe cat back and do some manuvering of muffler to fit. but i got it to work. actually my muffler is a 2 1/4" in n out. the guy a muffler shop told me that 2 1/4" was to big lossing too much backpressure. i say if u want a lil better flow get a bigger than stock universal replacement muffler with piping!!

Fujitsubo makes fantastic exhausts!
You want more flow, but quieter? Just have two resonators installed along the exhaust path. |

+1. Good sounding exhaust without being too loud with a nice, deep tone. Built like a brick outhouse, too.

The Youtube of the tanabe sounds really nice not so tin canney. They have one of the Borla that sounded good to but im having a little trouble finding someone who sells it. Ilike the duel tip.

Anybody know if one of those Ebay twin loops will fit in a hatchback? The measurements are too big, but I don't know if they are counting the tip(which can be modified).

Here's an IDEA:
Get Any Muffler of your Choice..... Tell your Exhaust installer to remove your CAT.... Wield 2 Cherrybomb/Glass pack Silencer ...... Thus your midpipe should have 3 Silencer (inclusive of your stock one) Voilà .... Silent as the night..... |

i just put a 2 inch pipe on a stock flange and ran over the axle to a 2 inch Cherry Bomb turbo. it has an offset so the tip is in the stock location and it all looks stock ."in case the law has a problem with that stuff". it is just a bit louder than stock with no load, some what louder under load. nice sound , no popping or racking off. a noticeable increase in power . muffler $24 at Auto Zone , pipe bent ,muffler mounted and tip at local muff shop. $44. (total $66)
it ain't stainless , but I'll change it in a year or so anyway! :) |

Was idly surfing the 'net and a thought (from the days of yore before HKS landed on these shores) occurred to me: For the people who say even the Medalion Touring or TRD mufflers are too noisy, has anyone tried or heard of anyone trying to cut the tip off and welding on a Supertrapp muffler/tip? They have an 8" shorty muffler which would fit on the Medalion and be the thrid resonator. Or, how about those Monza dual muffler tips (ugh, crap quality though)?
If not, mebbe I could try it. Just a thought... |
