I don't doubt that they are taking this very serious for the simple fact that they are probably losing a TON of money right now.
Hehehe the ps site, they got more letters out

If you have ever allowed some pimple faced punk kid at a restaurant drive thru hold your credit card, or used it at the gas pump and left your receipt behind, or been at the mall and allowed someone to look over your shoulder as you used your card, or bought something off an internet website - you could have your information stolen. It happens. Being on PSN isnt the only way that could happen - if you were that worried about it, you should have never used your card on the internet.

jumpman - I got that letter in the mail, I thought it was a nice heads up.

All in all, Sony is handling this perfectly.

I know, and I agree, JBougie. However, its just "too big" of a coincidence. And I don't believe in those. And for the record, I WASN'T that worried about it. I am now. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Well that's good.

Can I now take this opportunity to complain about Qriocity though? I mean what a bunch of crap. Xbox live users get Last.fm, which is free, and we finally get a music service and we have to pay for it. That pisses me off far more than the PSN going down. With all the free streaming music content online now why would anyone in there right mind pay for something like Qriocity?!

psn stuff

A good thread to start.

Basically Sony decided to reneg on letting the PS3 run other software. people got mad, and someone figured out how to hack the Ps3.

Sony sued the heck out of that hacker, therefor angering its entire fanbase who bought the system planning on using said alternate software, only to learn they were lied to.

So Someone took that info and posted a video on youtube that showed how to use the hack to hack the psn and download pretty much the entire thing, including all games, for free.

From what they are saying there was zero security on the psn, it was transmitted as plain text.

From that info came the real hacks.

And sony had 100 million people's info stolen, with cc#'s and all the security codes. Basically, if you ever used a credit card to purchase anything, the ps3 stored that and transmitted the card info to sony in plain text every time you connected. So if you ever bought anything on the psn, cancel the card.

At least 2 million credit card numbers and codes are apparently on the black market. And there are dozens of reports of people who credit cards are being used fraudulently.
