DIY Hatchback Spoiler Install

1) This is the painted spoiler with the hole drilled for the bolt it came with. There is a indention where it mounts to the car and a 19/64 drill bit fits perfect. 2) I Held the spoiler on the car and centered it with the indention it has for the window washer. I marked it with a sharpy. 3) I drilled holes with a small bit first 5/64 ( Used as a pilot) And then the main holes with a 21/64. 4) I then lined up by sight where to drill the hole on the underside of the door on the passenger side so I could reach the nut. I used a 3/4 hole saw bit. 5) The Hole. You have two metal panels to drill through. 6) The drivers side hole you can reach by taking the gromet off that conveys the wires for the door lights. Just give it a tug but dont pull to hard so that you damage the wires inside it. Once separared you can look through and see the hole. 7 & 8) The hardware comes with a Phillip head bolt, A locking nut and a rubber washer that I put in between the spoiler and the top of the car. I also put some silicone around the hole before I put the rubber washer down and the head of the bolt to seal it Just in case). Not to much though you dont want it squirting out when you tighten it. You have to reach in the holes with a pair of needle nose pliers to get the nut on. I highly recommend two people for this part. I did it myself and it was a pain. 9) Its comes with double sided tape circles that you use to mount the painted chips that cover the mounting holes. I used a little alcohol and a cotton ball to clean the hole and the bottom of the chip before sticking it on there. Don't get your fingers on the tape! 10) I took a Cap Plug and covered the hole on the passenger side. I had trouble finding this part until I saw one on my work truck and took it HAHA! The ones at the auto store were too small and I also checked audio store No luck. It was bigger than the hole I drilled so I just drilled it out with the side of a bit untill it was big enough. Hopfully ya'll will have better Luck. 11) Just pop the gromet back in and your done.
