From what I understand, the Yaris sedan IS available for 2012, but only for fleet sales. Once it gets the new sheet metal, it'll be available for retail sales, probably for 2013.
For me, only a hatch will do. Love folding down those rear seats and having that huge cargo area. Looked at the new Yaris hatch at the auto show last week. Interior is really cheap now, like they were trying to cut costs. I'll stick with my '10 hatch.

I checked out the 3dr at the Chicago auto show, and the 5dr at the Milwaukee auto show as well. HATED the new 3dr, and the 5dr didn't rank much better. Very pleased with my '08

I like the Sedan way better then the hatch.
1. Sedan is Faster then the hatch. 2. The Sedan is lighter the the hatch 3. Sedan just looks better |

* Looks are subjective - I think the sedan is good-looking, but the hatch is better. * The sedan may be lighter, but by just a few pounds...nothing that anyone would notice in daily driving. * All things being equal (engine size, gearing, etc), the sedan is probably more aerodynamic, thus better mpg. But I can't see it making a HUGE difference.

And if it is so great, why was it never offered in the European market? And, if the sedan is so great, why did the hatch outsell it in every market where the two were offered? Sorry, but it's clear the hatch is the superior and preferred design, which is why it prevailed whereas the sedan is history... Ya can't argue with facts, but nice try!

It's just a matter of personal preference.
If the hatch would have been the only model available in 2010, I wouldn't have purchased a Yaris. |

I love how we are debating whether or not the sedan or hatch is quicker... They're both slow! It's a driver's race at best.
Personally, I love my 5speed sedan. Having driven it back to back to back with a newer (2010) 3 door and 5 door, the sedan feels more stable at freeway speeds (particularly on windy days). I realize the hatchbacks have a much more utilitarian feel (you can fit a crap ton in the hatchbacks with the seats down). But the sedan has it's own appeal. They're seemingly more scarce around here, and manual sedans are even more rare. The hatch thrives because the subcompact scene is primarily teens and young 20-somethings. Sedans don't have the same appeal. But oddly, I agree that the sedan can definitely make a comeback. It's really not much smaller interior-wise from a corolla. |

Yeah I love my MT Sedan, and even if they don't bring back the sedan, mine just becomes even more rare and special. I can see the appeal of the LB though.
