Man. That is sad bro. Its a write off by the looks of it.

I know how getting boned by insurance is. Its why i drive my beaten up rusty POS car because my insurance is basically worthless. If i get into a collision. I'll just get a shitty £800 Yaris off eBay or a Cat d write off from a scrap yard and fix it out of my own pocket. I'm probably still ahead paying extra for insurance that will most likely screw me anyway.

Trust me I know lol I had a 1988 cabriolet already. Money pits but I needed a way of getting to work through the snow. So far I’m $800 in repairs but I should be good for at least a year with everything I did after giving it a solid look over

That 1.8 turbo engine is a nightmare. Best of luck mate. You will need it.

Boy do I know it. My first purchases were boost gauge and oil pressure gauge with a steering column mount dual pod. I have a ton of VW/Audi tech friends and they warned me of the oil flow issues the 1.8t has and common occurrence of sludge buildup.

You better start with dropping the oil pan and change oil pick up or complete pump.
The pickup is often totally closed and that can soon kill the engine when the you have no oil pressure.

It’ll be going into my local VW dealer soon to gets complete flush of the oil system and they change that too I believe the job runs about $1k
I really just need this car to last at least a year or 2

I'm referring to your banner pic:

Funny, when the Echo came out I thought it was the ugliest thing ever. Now after owning my 2007 hatch for a few years the MK1 hatch, both 3dr and 4dr is really growing on me. Too bad we didn't get the hatchback in the US (I'm pretty sure we didn't )

Adam actually was able to title his echo hatch here in the states from Canada. I guess the US views it the same as the sedan/coupe so you can just go to Canada and bring one back

Passat is gone. I decided it wasn’t worth fixing and used the money toward a new car

Wife has a 2016 Elantra, nice car even though its a auto. Handles really well.
It would think the sport would be real fun.
Enjoy.
