- I'm a Big Brother: http://www.bbbsnn.org/vision.asp

- I volunteer one evening per week as an intermediate mechanic at the local Kiwanis Club's bicycle recycling shop: http://www.kiwanisbikes.org/

- I participate in water testing for Lake Tahoe and the Truckee River Basin once per month: http://www.ivgid.org/conservation/clean_water

... and once per year on Snapshot Day: http://www.uwex.edu/ces/csreesvolmon...oeTruckee.html

- For fitness and fun I snowboard and mountain bike. I plan to pick up kayaking next Spring as well.

- I have an organic garden and my goal is to produce enough from it to keep us in canned vegetables all the way until the following Spring each year. This involves a nearly closed-loop system for all of our lawn, leaf, and food waste as well as lots of cardboard and shredded paper via composting.

- When it's not wet or icy outside I do our grocery run with a bicycle and trailer instead of driving. It's a 14-mile round trip.

Drive... drive...drive.

Tho, for fun stuff. Driving to different off road parking lots, such as when I go back country backpacking/camping where I have to park and hike in at least 2 miles before I see the camp. Also, when I go rock climbing.

But mostly what I do with the car in my free time is drive long distances to visit family/friends from my hometown, or go for day trips with the GF like I did yesterday... did around 250 miles round trip yesterday.

The big list of my hobbies, which don't always involve my car include...

Basketball
rock climbing (sport climbing, no trad yet)
camping
biking (tho I don't get to do it often)
Car stereo
Home Audio/theater

and recently I've joined a co-ed volleyball team.. we suck... but we're 1-1 so far.

No i dont have that there, we have headliner material, and speaker material (the black mesh type).

You could always use some gnarly fabric we have, that has cats, dogs, fish, chickens, lemons, that sort of stuff on it. Use corderoy, um, home decor material.

HAHAHA

Yes very nice indeed.

Check out http://www.rutply.com/ This is the company that makes the laminates for Marlin and other companies and those nice colored walking sticks that LL Bean sells.

I have managed to scrounge scrap pieces over the years and made a set of pistol grips with it.

My hobbies are somewhat differant.........
Guns ..... I have competed with both pistol and rifle
Cars, boats, ATV's, grandchildren and my side business which is a federally licensed. My avatar is a good hint.

Thanks. I'm just in the process of getting the garden shed turned into a real workshop, so I don't have to keep banging my head in the basement....

Where do I start? Hmm, ok the nutshell:

Model building - Everything from planes to cars
Building cars - Grew up in a garage around some of the finest builders of muscle cars and dragsters on the east coast. My first car was a 1971 RS Camero, split bumper, one of 50 made with Z28 heads. Anything to do with cars, I'm in it and so is my family. Too many cars to list in the family but they revolve around our 1961 Impala SS convert
Welding - Metal and Plastic
Woodworking - Just picked up some more things for my Shopsmith
Fibergalss - Anything to do with it
Flooring - I install hardwood flooring, tile and carpet as one of my many side jobs

This is just a short list of what I like to do. I could sit in a room for hours and just tinker with something and try to figure out a better mouse trap if I had the time. I actually enjoy hard labor.

My favorite thing to do, more so than any of the things listed is to spend time with my son. He's getting to the age now that anything I do interests him and he likes to act like me and do the same things as me. It's the one thing in my life that truely makes me smile and I thank God everyday for the gift of my sons smile and love.
