Best fill so far was today, 40.6 MPG US. Worst tank so far was about 37. 3800 miles so far, and I live and drive in a hilly rural environment, so not much city driving, and the most recent fill was largely highway. I'm still loving my MT S Sedan

anyone else have to regularly fill up in a "reformulated" (10% ethanol) area?
i am only getting 33-36 mpg, but can only run this crap gas..i "think" that i get better milage when i am outside of this 2 county (the one i live in, and the one i comute to work in) zone just wondering if it is just me wanting to belive that i get better milage when not running what i subconsisly think is "bad gas," or if the gas is the reason for my lower than average MPG's i tend to think of myself as a good, eficient driver, but still low milage's... |

On the bright side it's a cleaner burning fuel. if you switch and run a non ethanol fuel your mileage will increase slightly |

Hmmm I thought the ethonol fuel was bad for the car?.....thats good to hear that it is cleaner fuel because I live in a 10% ethonol area too.

Funny how the 10% blends (which you will see a difference in MPG) are still the same price as regular non blended gas. Really pisses me off!
Im in a ethanol blend state (NY) and really see the difference in my numbers (im getting 26mpg avg.). It may involve other factors but im contributing the gas to a big percent (along with making lots of short trips). Anyone know how to research which areas do and do not have 10% ethanol? |

No idea on that last question, but whats the difference between summerblend and winter? And I barely ever breech 300miles to the tank. I make about 27mile to the gallon. I drive mainly city.

In places where winter is cold, additional additives are put into the fuel sold in winter and they hurt fuel economy, by causing a reduction in the actual fuel content compared wtih the same amount of fuel sold in summer, even if not for other reasons.
Ethanol may not be good for fuel economy, but it does help produce cleaner exhausts. Cars that barely fail exhaust tests (called Air Care in BC) may have a slightly better chance of passing after a switch of fuel (to some with adequate ethanol content), depending on what have caused the failures .

After having her aprox. 7 days, I got about 265 out of the tank, and that's with the last bar flashing. Keep in mind I've had the air blasting since I bought her, and do mainly city driving. My driving ratio would be 80% city-20% Hgwy.
I had the A/C running from 1-4 all week long. I did fill her up with only 30$, which was cool, hopefully that will get me another week or week and a half. That average is roughly 23 miles a gallon. Trust, it'll get better.

i drive about 125 miles roundtrip everyday during the week. the car had about 4k miles on it when i bought it about 10 days ago...and during that time i have been getting between 40-43 mpg.
oh and that isn't being supercareful and driving for better mpg...also the air conditioner was on the whole time. |

Jeez i dont know why you are complaining. Thats great gas mileage. The avg. on the sticker is 34/39 for auto and just slightly better for stick. I personally think that many of the people that are reporting over 40 numbers probably either a) do only highway driving for long periods of time or b) arent calculating their numbers properly. Sounds like you are getting great gas mileage and should not complain ... also its bound to get better. Now my 26 avg. mpg is dismal and upsetting. So far everyone i have read with numbers like mine on this and other forums have lived in either LA or NYC. hmmmm makes me wonder...

I'm in California and drive up and down a mountain each day (6000 feet all the way to sea level), A/C on, manual tranny. First tank was 36.5 MPG. Not too bad, although I hope it improves.

just got back from a 3k trip to Boston, from my hometown of london, ON,
my average fuel economy for the trip was an amazing 5.7 L p/100km or 41.27 mpg (u.s.), this is for 95% highway 5% city (estimation). AC was on low (setting #1 or 2) the whole time, speed was about 110 km/h (68 mph) for the most part. tire pressure checked before the trip. 13 500 km (8400miles) on the car at the end of trip. this was the first time i have driven a full tank on completely highway miles and was really impressed to have such good numbers. really nice trip by the way, great highways through upper new york state and massachusetts, well maintained with some nice views off to the sides. |
