I had mine done on Thursday. It didn't take them long at all. Mine only had to have one of the recall items done. They removed the foam from the B pillars. No pain and no fuss. No problems and no smells for mine.

so they just rip it out, they dont replace it or anything?
This make it louder in the car? or what? |

Yup, they just rip it out and road noise is "slightly" louder. But you would rather have louder road noise than a car that could catch fire at anytime, wouldn't you?

I got the recall notice in the mail yesterday. I'll be taking her in next week...sounds like an easy fix.

Easy, quick and free (excluding your time and gas to get there).

Mine took about 45 minutes for them to do, didnt see any other yarises there getting it done. But if this did increase the road noise I havent heard any difference. Also no smell. Maybe just lucky, I had to go in again a week later to get the water pump replaced due to leaking. Which my coolant was at min when i took it in. That took 2 hours, and they put my underbody panels on wrong.

There has only been one reported instance of a fire, and that was after an accident. This is a precautionary recall to avoid future litigation against Toyota...

I got mine done a little over a week ago. It took all of 20 minutes and they left one of the foamy pieces in my backseat on accident so at least I have some of her guts still around. lol
I haven't noticed any additional road noise ... and I am pretty good about noticing noise differences in my car (it's just a habit, we all know how our cars growl haha) I like that Toyota wanted to take care of the problem before it did become an issue - a whole lot better than some car manufacturers who could give a shit less if their customers burn up or not. This is just one more reason Toyota is #1 in my book :) |

Mine took 3 hours... I have no clue why! Anyone here might know? All of yours' took not more than an hour and mine was 3 times as long... I had to come home and its getting picked up right now... What exactly were the recall items? All I know is that it was some sort of foam but I don't know where..

I didnt watch them do it, but do they remove the rear seats(Sedan), for this? Cause somehow after I took it in, the seatbelt ended up behind the bolt for the backseat.

I found all the data on the recall, including the Dealers Instructions on the NTSA web site. In the find recalls for my vehicle search.
Shows exactly what the dealer has to do for all models. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...callsearch.cfm |

When I took my newly purchased used Yaris in to the dealer to have them check it over (i.e. see if I got stuck with a lemon), they took care of this recall. It didn't add any time to my wait. They brought me doughnuts and coffee and I would have been happy to sit in their huge comfy sofa chairs for hours watching news on their big screen TV; but alas, it only took an hour for them to change my oil, air filter, do a 15,000 mi. check and take care of the recall. If the car wasn't so dang reliable, I'd get to go back soon for some more pampering. Sigh.

I received my notice a few weeks ago. Not sure whether I will take it in or not. The problem is that I don't trust my dealer and I believe they will probably "fix" something else at the same time--you know, because the miss me so much. I'd rather wait until somebody posts some DIY instructions somewhere. It's not like the car is going to spontaneously combust in the meantime.
