Every so often someone fires up this type of thread again and I chuckle cause they are so fun to read. I changed over to AMSOIL a few years back and became an AMSOIL dealer going on a year and a half. I change my oil once every 10-12k as Kaotic does.
I have all lubricants now AMSOIL. I really noticed a nice difference with engine temps when I changed to their coolant and I really like how my tranny as well as my brakes feels with their fluids. Overall a great product line in my book. I think that I did take pictures of the top/bottom ends of my first motor when it blew and they both looked super clean. I ran AMSOIL for about 20k prior to the blown pistons. Before that I ran both Royal Purple and also Mobil1. Personally I preferred the Royal Purple over the Mobil1, but for some reason when I ran RP the engine temps seemed to be a bit higher. People can say what they want, but actually I believe in the product so much that I still have my racing oil in the motor right now in Northern Maine temps. I plan on changing it again here shortly and am thinking about sending it off for an analysis. I have almost 10k on it. Usually I would run their SAE 5W-30 Signature Series and only change to the racing oil for the land speed weekends. I never ran 5-20 nor 0-20, but that is just me.

In spite of Toyota U.K. specifying 10000 miles or 12 months (whichever comes first), I change the engine oil and filter at six months after each annual dealer service. Yaris 1.4 Diesel.
Toyota Genuine Motor Oil 5W/30 (semi synthetic), genuine Toyota filter and new drain plug washer. Dealer uses the same oil. |

It costs about $20 for synthetic oil changes at home . Oil filter $4 ( AC Delco PF1233 or Toyota YZZF2 ) , 4 quarts Shell synthetic oil at $3.50 each ( w/tax ) , and paper towels . Can't beat that . Here are U.O.A.s from the sedan . Column 1 : Shell syn 5w-20 , 2nd : Shell syn 5w-30 , 3rd : Pennzoil Yellow Bottle ( P.Y.B. ) regular 5w-30 . All oil intervals in the reports had the Toyota 90915-YZZF2 oil filter .

Either way why in the hell would you worry about having a Yaris warranty? It is just about impossible to mess up this 1nz-fe powerplant unless you do performance changes that push it past the threshold it can handle. I could understand if it were an upper end Camry, Camry Hybrid, Landcruiser, truck, Avalon, etc.

I run 0w-20 top of the line amsoil in my Yaris along with a corolla filter. Every 15k for me.
Same interval as well on my fiances Protege but with 5w-30 and my mothers caravan with 5w-20 with their respective filters. The yaris and the protege both have amsoil trans fluid as well. Amsoil is awesome stuff!!! The tercel I run purolator gold filter and mobil 1 15-50 since it consumes 1/2 quart every tank. I change the oil roughly every 4 months.
