I want to go HUD with a tach but I haven't found one that impressed me all that much yet. I'm also worried about the accuracy/speed of response.

yes these are expensive. no he's not trying to rip you off with the price. if he takes your money and you get jack crap then yeah that's ripped off.

brand new this set costs 141,750円, with the rate going on right now that is $1209.41.

I don't think they're trying to say the seller is ripping anyone off... but more or less that the price is a ripoff, which in this case is TRD's fault... but then, TRD has a history of selling overpriced hardware to Toyota enthusiasts.

Exactly... and not all of their products are such a blatant rip-off, but I wouldn't pay more than 500 bucks for this cluster. Its 3 gauges and some plastic.

This is why Toyotas need a consistant 3rd party tuner accross the board, like Honda has Spoon or Nissan has Impul... I mean, we have Tom's, but they only tune the high end Toyos... (Not to mention, Toms is about as overpriced as TRD) I hope Yashio Factory decides to work their magic on this Vitz the same as they did on the previous gen.

As mentioned earlier - Im a big fan of autometer guages but they belong in my street rod, not my import. Defi guages are just as expensive (unless you buy the knockoffs or non defi-link). They look awsome but the defi link setup runs like 200+ a guage.

They start at $600 for the MyChron3 and $900 for the MXL

www.aimsports.com

There's a group buy on another forum right now, we're getting around 15% off list... let me know if anyone's serious about picking one up.

The cheapest I have seen that tach for is $340. Which is sort of rediculous but its slim profile is pretty much one of a kind.

It's actually not that much when you consider everything that's included... this would only make sense if you where planning on picking up a set of guages anyway.

Most decent guages run $80-$140 each, plus the sensors, mounting brkts, etc... you'll easily surpass $400-$600. With the AIM setup you get everything all at once, in a easy to read single cluster for roughly the same price. It's not for everyone, but it would be pretty pimp in a Yaris

280 for the HUD, 110 for the Control Unit, and 85 or 169 per sensor depending on sensor type, the Defi HUD can add up on you quickly as well. The Defi system will only do Tach and speed without the optional sensors.

644 for the Defi HUD and controller with only Water Temp and Oil Pressure sensors...

Another alternative, similar to the AIM-Sports is the Racepak Ultra Dash http://www.racepak.com/udx.html

I wasn't saying they weren't good, I've never used one, I was just noting that once you get everything, the price is about the same as a set of decent gauges.
