I believe he said at one point that you would be able to setup charts and whatnot via the USB interface and some software. It would be pretty sweet to have it on the main unit, but I'll probably be keeping a laptop hooked up to it anyway so that's fine with me.

Development around the new display is going well. This week I added air to fuel ratio. I am amazed at how responsive the Yaris' wideband sensors are. At some point this weekend I'll take some video of the AFR mode in action.

Another little update - Thanks to Toyota finally fixing a bug in TechStream, on 09's and older, ambient temperature now doesn't require tapping the wire to the AC amplifier.

Today I figured out the cruise control messaging, so I can now tell if cruise control is "on" or "set", just like the 09+ cluster. |

By 09 and older, do you mean 06,07,08? Or 09+? I only ask because you say it was a bug fix, so I assume it's 09 and newer.

The 2010s and newer support the standard OBD request for ambient air. The 09's and older (06-09) did not, so on them I have to get the ambient air temp from the AC ECU. The bug fix was in the TechStream software, not in the car.

Any thoughts on open/closed source code?
I don't know what kind of hardware its programmed on, but if there's any capabilities to customize/have fun with (like make it say 'SWIDD IS BAD DRIVER' when I turn on the car and say 'CALM DOWN SWIDD' when I speed), it could at least increase the justification for purchasing the USB cable, and/or give the community something to do. |

I very well may disclose the protocol for the USB interface. The primary reason would be to allow those running something other than Windows to be able to write their own app, as my app with be for Windows. |

If I need to be in the car with a laptop, then I'll need that software to run in linux, either with ported code or using Wine. But I also may not worry about it and use it as is :)
