Just got back from a visit at the warehouse we like to call the Toy Box. Twelve show/program vehicles were on the list to get crushed, including the sedan I mentioned previously, so we did a walk around with the Toyota guys to check them all over.

The exciting part for us, we are getting a complete drive-train from a Yaris sedan: engine, trans, axles, brakes, front sub-frame with suspension. It will be great to have these spares. Now we can look at really pushing the motor.

I was able to make an appeal to save one car, at least for now... The 5 axis Yaris roadster was on the crusher list. I told them it is way to cool to crush - especially since it was at Willow Springs with us and I know it runs and drives - I told them it needs to be added to the museum collection. They took it off the crush list, and are going to evaluate adding it to the museum. Fingers crossed it survives.

What pads do use for the track? I run into brake fade issues after just a few laps on Hawk hp+. What our your current spring rates? I bumped up my front rates after removing sway and fight instability during high speed braking , but it rotates fine eveywhere else now.

Working on it... But that seems to be a long ways off.

It is a federal (DOT) thing... All manufacturer program cars have an expiration date, when that time comes they get crushed. Many of these cars are preproduction, so the government does not want them in circulation.

I would image there is also some tax related issues, you crush an R&D/program car and maybe get a better deduction than you could sell it for.

We just had to send a bunch of pics, event results and a copy of the feature we ran on the car we built so it did not get crushed with this batch - I don't know if that is permanent, or just a stay of execution.

This one makes me want to cry, $200k+ gone in seconds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMNVVHI2ZNg

It's the cost of doing business.

Cars #20 and #98 are set to head to Laguna Seca for one of the Toyota dealer meetings. It sounds like dealers that are in attendance will get to lap the famed track in the GT Spec cars.

Its easy... just like a band-aid, pull it quick. Image what pulling 200lbs+ would do for you. ;)

That's the spirit. Just keep in mind the interior noise level is horrible with no interior, even with a quiet exhaust.
