I have a question maybe someone can answer, hopefully Tamago or Cali, but these ECU's i have been thinking they make corrections based of the O2 sensor readings, but is it possible they read off the MAP sensor as well? Do these cars even have one or do they manage without it?
because i know there is a way to trick the O2 sensor, and i read of people tricking the MAP sensor by putting a restrictor in the line... |

less things to worry about for me then
what's the main differences with the yaris ECU over the echo/scion ECU which prevents a piggyback from functioning? Fooling the MAF isn't enough for low boost? I know greddy makes some sort of o2 sensor adapter they recommend for the 1nzfe, which I'd guess is just an expensive resistor, wouldn't that work for lowering o2 sensor readings? Not sure what else these ecu's look at other than MAF and o2, still new to the snail game.

The AEM FIC is supposed to be the hottest latest thing out there in regards to piggy backs. 2 or 3 people have tried to tune a Yaris with them with out succsess. I believe succesful piggy backing can be done... I mean is a Yaris, not a space rocket. Just there are not that many people trying out there. So there is not a proven way to do it yet. People in Asia are using the Dastek Unichip to tune the Yaris... So it can be done. Is just that no one has come yet with a clean effective way to make an Emanage or a FIC work on the Yaris. There are a lot of getto ways to go around this... but must Yaris owners are concerned with reliability.... |

Talking about piggy backs....
The Infamous POwer Enterprises SC comes with a split second unit right? Has anyone contacted split second regarding that particular unit??? |

if it's adjusting to stock, then it has to be reading some value that the piggyback is not intercepting in order to adjust accordingly? But if you modify the O2 and MAF, what does that leave for the ECU to base its adjustments off? The ecu can't be completely closed-loop i'm sure it relies on feedback off other values if it's smart enough to adjust to changes.

MAP sensor is another thing that most cars read off for boost? like i asked before but it was disregarded lol i guess |

I think the yaris only has an MAF on the intake, but for boost applications a MAP is the preferred way to go, though I wonder if its worth it to trick the ecu MAF while running off an addon MAP at the same time.

it might be depending if you can add one on there, but i wouldve figured all cars had a 1 Bar MAP, how is it going to detect manifold pressure? I think the pressure is displayed in scangauge?

Takuto, I know you're trying to gain information, and that's cool -- but there are those of us who have tried and failed so far, so please accept that information as valid. My suggestion is GO FOR IT, and teach us something. The fact remains that there is no tuned turbo Yaris in the USA at this time, unless there is one I don't know about. Mine will be soon, but at the cost of going full standalone. That's not the solution most have been looking for. Unless more people try, we won't get anywhere. (I said Yaris, Tamago -- you're one of our inspiring 1.5L exceptions )

any prospects on swapping out the yaris ecu with an echo ecu, with just some rewiring for the harness?

you'd need to replace multiple sensors, lengthen the harness, drill a hole in the firewall. all that and you could have got a standalone. or a faster car

There are alot of tuning devices out there... is just that only a few people have tried it so far.
The new Scion TC's shouldn't be that different from the Yaris in regards to the ECU tunning... And look at them... bunch of them running turbos with piggy backs. Some one should just take a Yaris to Dezod or something... |

Well once Titan Motorsports (Deals with Big Scale! Toyota Projects) here in Orlando gets their new shop open, I might just knock on the door and ask what the can do again, since the will have a new shop with more toys at their disposal. they do Unichip tunes,so that might be an option once more; but when I asked about it before...they said the gains werent worth the money.
Plus they work on so many TC's and Celica's they might just have a trick up their sleeve, or know someone who does.
