Don't worry, Thomas - the curse seems to be on me, at least this year.
Let's see - starting just before christmas....
1. Father-in-law dies, necessitating rapid and expensive purchase of two tickets to England.
2. Land back on New Year's Eve to find that I don't have a job coz the company is in receivership. Maybe re-open in 45 to 60 days.
3. Find a$$hole boss conveniently forgets verbal agreement about vacation pay, so last paycheck is only 1/3 of what it should be.
4. Find new work almost immediately, enabling me to tell a$$hole what I really think about him.
5. Find out THE NEXT DAY that the new job is gone because a major client backed out.
6. Ask a$$hole to remember him if/when the company re-opens (which it did) and get told FU (not wildly surprised at that)
7. After 7 week wait, unemploymnt checks start arriving, only to be stopped after another 3 weeks because the a$$hole has told them that I left "voluntarily". WTF?
8. Finds out that I apparently cannot get any checks ("cheques" for those whose countries know how to spell properly) while there is an investigation underway, but the first hearing is May 4th. 6 weeks with no check/cheque, lovely!
9. Get the Yaris crunched by some van-driver who was too busy lighting his stogie to look at the traffic lights.

Yeah - I think it's me alright.

So, what's next? I'm putting bets on the house having expensive issues. Oh, wait, we just did that with a new water-heater.....

Apart from the above, though, guys, Thanks, REALLY thanks, for all the good feelings. I wouldn't hold your breath about parts, though, as the Wife told me explicitly last night that she is NOT having her back yard cluttered up with wrecked cars the way we used to when the kids were at home... :boo-hoo:

Well, it's official. Total loss.
So - now I just have to wait to see how much cash-in-hand I will get, and go looking for a new one

Can you check on what the insurance buy-out would be? If it's low enough I would be interested in grabbing it and parting it out.

Like the others, I'm glad to hear you're okay, and glad to hear you'll probably buy another one.

Wow that looks really scary but glad you're ok.
Just for my own FYI, what did you do when you were being spun? I always wonder if there's something you should do (keep breaking, let go of breaks, something else) in a crash like that. I especially am paranoid now with a small car!

Also, I know you said you don't think you'll be selling it for parts, what about just the rear toyota logo badge? I want to try something with one, but want to have an extra one just incase I ruin one! (would pay of course)

Again, glad you were ok! A friend had a similar accident with his car spinning and landing/stopping really far away from where it started. Scary beyond words to me!

If your spin is like mine, you don't have time to do anything. I cannot remember the spin itself, just the "thump" of the impact and the slowing down of the spin on "landing" in the bushes. Considering how much plowing the nose did, I'm amazed that the front clip survived in perfect shape

Sorry to hear it is totaled. On the plus side.... used cars have been selling like wild and the insurance companies survery what used cars are being sold for. That is a good thing.
