2010 Yaris 3-Door Hatchback, 5 Speed Manual, Bayou Blue Pearl
Convenience Package All-Weather Guard Package Carpeted "Yaris" floor mats/Cargo Mat MSRP (Sticker): $14,328.00 (excluding tax and fees) INVOICE: $13,634.00 (excluding tax and fees) PRICE: $12,637.00 – Dealer final price I paid for the car (excluding tax and fees) OTD: $13,500.00 – (including 6% PA State Tax: $758.22, Doc. Fee: $100, Tire Tax: $4.78) My buying experience: I bargained for my first new car... I was able to get at slightly over the ‘Dealer True Cost’ (DTC). This is an estimated value of what a dealer really paid for a specific vehicle. The Dealership was asking $12,890.00 with rebate, $13,763.40 state tax and fees OTD. Actually a good price for the specific vehicle the dealership was asking... it is slightly above invoice ($12,890.00 dealer price includes the rebate of $750 rebate. Add the $750, then really $13,640.00. Invoice for that exact model and options $13,634.00). I knew there were holdbacks by Toyota too... and I could get it down some more. I mentioned, “What about the Dealer Holdback?” He leaned back and said, “It is already a good deal!” I asked him again about the vehicle’s holdback. He then said, “I will have to talk to my Sales Manager... my manager will have to assist you in the sale now.” After bargaining and counter offering... the new guy did bring it down but, didn’t bring it down at or below the DTC... what I wanted. We came to this OTD price. The Dealer Holdback is rebates the dealer gets after sale from Toyota on the vehicle’s MSRP. The DH is 2% for Toyota USA. Still the dealer makes out even if a vehicle is sold below DTC because there are still other hidden promos and incentives, lot volumes, etc for the dealer. Why do you think they are called car or automobile “Dealerships”? They are dealing the cards... I mean cars! I had a hard dealer experience; especially with the new guy...it was like bad cop, good cop! Worth it in the end, but never again! We came to a Fair Market Value on this Yaris. The original sales person then came back to do the paper work. I got a good price , but not great! Purchase would have been great price if it was below DTC. Cheers...

I feel like I stole mine:D
2008 Yaris LB 19k miles, w/ Audio package and Convenience package and armrest for $8500. The dealer had it listed for $10k but I told him I had $8k cash in hand and asked what they could do. Called me 3 days later and the co-owner of the dealership agreed to $8500. Which means they must have only given some poor fool $6 or $7k to trade it in. There loss is MY gain! :D |

Without the destination, Massachusetts new car tax, registration, doc fee and all other fees added... you got the car for probably under $10,600! Actually closer to 38% off MSRP! A new 3-door 2010 manual with at least the CP... You got it below the dealer's true market value! How did you do it? What is wrong with it?

"How did you do it? What is wrong with it? "
its not what was wrong with the yaris, its what was wrong with the sticky gas pedals. that was the month that toyota was recalling every car, even brand new cars in the dealership lots. the yaris and i think rav4 were the only two cars without issues. the salesman figured it would be wise to give up part of his bonus for selling a car in order to keep his monthly salary (needs to sell about 8 cars a month) |

the amount i paid for the car before taxes and fees was exactly $10.6K. there was a $300 increase in MSRP the week before I bought the car, so with secret incentives from toyota headquarters, I think the dealership still broke even.
also it costs $100+k for a medium-large size dealership to stay open for a month, so they were ready to do anything to cut their losses |
