That's some pretty impressive engine machining and port work. What machine shop did the work and specifically the sleeving to allow for the oversize pistons? Could this be the work of Cosworth! Have you increased the valve size at all ? I better let you go so you can go knife edge the crankshaft LOL Keep us posted on this great project!

Don't forget the high volume fuel pump and bigger lines, clutch and axles.
Damn thick sleeves, are these Aluminium/Nikasil or ductile iron, by the color I'd say iron ? One thing for sure is that engine and management is built to see up to 30 psi of boost, I don't have much details on the construction of the Yaris engine and drivetrain, I just hope it's strong enough to live behind a monster like this. Thumbs up for the build and keep the pics coming :D |

Fortified axles from Drive Shaft Shop fuel system will be upgraded as needed. in-tank pump would be preferable. Quote:

Do you guys have good luck with the twin fire? mine died in my S14 in just a few hours.. then I swapped in a DIS4 wire for wire they plug in the same.. But I like the Twin fire better for its smaller has less BS on it that the AEM takes care of any way.. and it can be triggered falling edge or rising edge.

have had mixed results with the coils. They were arcing, which we fixed with heatshrink (but shouldn't have to do that IMO). One has popped off so far, might need a bracket to really hold them down there solidly. Overall, ok, not fantastic, but the car is running real nice at 9.5 psi right now. Built motor swap is the next step, after I drive it a little bit.

if you get the CBR coils (can be had for 50# a set on ebay) the plugs you need to use must have a screw off top, and the coil grabs on that thread.. but its hard to find good plugs that are like that, I run IK24's in my car. Also if you cant fix the spark issues why not try the factory coils? they are a smart coil no? if so the AEM can run them direct with no ignitior or spark box (twin fire ect) cool setup the car should fly... what do the 3drs weigh in at? |

Cali,
Do you know how much the cylinder bore was increased by? I know the stock is 75mm; I'm just wondering how much it can be opened up by before risking thin walls on the stock iron sleeves.

I do not know if specs like that are made available to everyone, but I will ask. It's a small motor, there's not a lot of thickness there to play with as you said.
I think it's about a 1.6L now.

so beautiful... So you are taking this thing cross country for a grand tour when it's done so us poor mid-westerners can witness this beast in person, right? I'm not sure if the wife will let me drive cross country to come see it. Seriously, you inspire all of us. I cannot wait until it's done... Are you still thinking about using the paint job I suggested?
