I don't have a picture but I can describe them. There is quantity of two of them. They are cylinders. I believe they are each a little less than 1 cm in diameter. They are white in color. They are probably less than a cm long also. The location that the MAF instructions tells you to put them in would be surrounding the screws that hold the MAF sensor in place, so they go in between the sensor and the hard black tube that came with the AFE system right where the screw holes are.

If my MAF sensor is truly bad, and I replaced it with a new good sensor, how long should it take for the CEL to turn off?
If I am currently driving with a bad MAF sensor, what kind of negative side effects can that have on my car? If I am currently driving with an air intake system that is faulty, maybe letting air in somewhere besides through the filter, what kind of negative side effects can that have on my car? Thanks.

-depending on how many miles you drive it should take about a week once the computer detects the fault is gone after 2 drive cycles If I am currently driving with a bad MAF sensor, what kind of negative side effects can that have on my car? -loss of power, fuel economy, can potentially damage catalytic converter if driven long term, typically you will feel a difference before this happens. If I am currently driving with an air intake system that is faulty, maybe letting air in somewhere besides through the filter, what kind of negative side effects can that have on my car? -See above typically reduction in fuel economy, 02 sensor will pick up the extra oxygen and attempt to correct the vehicle by dumping more fuel in the cylinders leading to incomplete combustion so reduction in fuel economy the unburned fuel will get cleaned up by the cat but long term can cause it to fail typically if driven for many many months this way. Thanks. ...

I am going to put my original air intake system back in before I buy a new MAF sensor.
Do you guys think I should take off the negative battery terminal for a couple minutes and see if the CEL comes back on, or do you think I should not take off the negative battery terminal and wait and see if it clears itself?

i replaced my seal gasket to a bigger one to make sure it was snug and maybe disconnect your neg terminal for a couple mins that could have thrown the check engine light

I just put the original intake back on and will remove neg term for a little while. then will drive for a month to see if CEL comes back on. If not would you agree the MAF is fine?

...as it will definitively indicate whether the issue is with the intake itself or with the MAF. Do keep me posted as to the results. |

My OEM air intake system is not causing the CEL to come on and my gas milage seems to have improved but it hasn't been long enough to say for certain. Has anyone ever sprayed ether or something else around their air intake system to try to find a leak?

Afe intake on 2008 yaris LB
I already purchased the afe intake from garm at microimage , but the instructions that came with it said that the intake is for 2006-2007 yaris. I have a 2008 . Will it still fit ?
