Toyota's and Honda's are the two leading cars i the US and many other countries for a reason. Heck, they are even so bold as to call out their own problems and tell everyone who those problems came from in public meetings! (Just check out the last Toyota meeting in Japan... the head guy dimed out his own kids for the 1.4 billion dollar loss, and even said how they could have prevented it.) And as far as their cars lasting a long time... It is the Honda Odessy, Honda Accord, Toyota Sienna, and Toyota Camry that hold the top 4 spots for best resale value, because they do last an incredibly long time with minimal to no problems. Toyota might actually know what they are talking about here.

Yeah my mom has a 2007 Toyota Yaris HB and I notice the throttle lag and the Fuel Cutoff. I don't care for DBW nor the Fuel cut off. The lag is really bad I don't like it at all. The Fuel cut off is annoying because it feels weird when it engages and its a pain to wait for the DBW to respond, and the pump to come back on. When this happens the car lurches forward no matter how much throttle your applying. Driving in NYC I can tell you its a real pain in the ass and when your driving on streets and the car lurches forward by a crosswalk or something you get dirty looks from people crossing. BTW with the A/C turned on things get worse because of the load the A/C puts on the small engine. I mean to take off at a decent speed from a light with the A/C on I gottha go half way down or more sometimes. Going up hills is another challenge.

Did I say I did 7 sec 0-60? NO. FOCUS. I said seven second range - so think 7.8 seconds. Tell me a good way to viddy the speedo and I'll prove it (or not ...)
Maybe tape the cam to your hat? It would shake too much with it attached to the pass seat I suppose. BTW I live just down the road from New England Dragway. I ran a '67 396 chevelle and a vega v8 in the late 70's. 0-100 in 12 seconds on the vega and the motor ran like crap. BTW new ralliart are heavy pigs. yea I am old - but prob not as old as Saildesign or YarisHilton

100+ Hp and 2300 lbs. Easy 0-60 in 8. I grew up when economy cars had 36-75 hp and weighed a ton (Except the Fiesta or Fiat128).

Only one way to settle it. Have someone else hold the camera. Here's mine:

There is no excuse after making this claim not to post your proof, show and tell time!

No excuses - you are right. My new Yokohamas dont hook up for crap. My Diff is sounding pretty nasty and this will prob end its life. Whhaaa whaa wa

I dont want someone to hold my camera - adds too much weight to the car. I'm just waiting for the rain to clear, roads are wet. Its been raining here for 3 weeks straight! Any more suggestions on the cam? I was going to tape it to my hat. Its a micro camera only 2 X 2.5" and about 1/4" thick. Now I gotta go find a hat ...

ps: I only do one shift (1>2) and run the motor in redline and to the fuel cutoff to get to 60, BTW.

That's the way to get to 60, alright. The extra weight of a person will not make a significant difference in a 0-60 run. Besides, I had a passenger holding my camera, so you can too.

150 pounds in a whole 1/4 mile is maybe .15 seconds max.

Thumbs up to a car that can withstand a Canadian winter.
