Yeah, the 2012 design is at least tolerable. And at least the mechanicals are the same.

Hey Winston,
![]() There are no engine choices here, so the stock 2nd gen 1.8 would clean the clock of any stock 3rd gen 1.5. |

Tooter's right, the japanese site of Toyota shows the 3rd gen vitz RS with a 1.5L engine. Other than that can't understand what is says about the horsepower

Would never consider a Yaris until the 3rd Gen, prior to that they were U-G-L-Y. Am now enjoying my Silver Yaris Hybrid Spirit.

I like the design on the Echo as well, not bigtime, but pretty well. We had a Tercel 4wd wagon which looked pretty cool, and I liked my brother' Starlet (what a name), all of which are the direct ancestors of the current Yaris.

At first I thought I liked the older one better, but I drove a 2012 today and was really impressed. I like the dash and interior materials better than the old one, including the two-tone seats and the beefy steering wheel. The whole thing was really impressive. I've always bought used so-called "higher-end" cars but the Yaris is very tempting and now I'm really confused.
I seriously don't understand why the 2012 (and even the older one) get such mediocre to poor reviews. I like this car much better than the Fiesta and Mazda2, which was incredibly disappointing to me. The only other competitor I like is the new Rio hatch, but the proven durability and MPG of the Toyota drivetrain appeals to me. |

I love my '07! I haven't paid to much attention to the newer models and the styling changes they have made. I am going to have to check it out.

The only thing I want from the new model is rear disc brake set up. I am looking in to in the future get it from junk yard. |

I don't much like it either. I was just at the dealership today and saw a 2012 for the first time up close. Still think the 07-08ish years were the best. Now it just doesn't even look like a Yaris now.

While I was originally drawn to the previous generation of Yaris, by the time I had enough money saved up for purchase, the 2012/2013 models were all that was available brand-new. While I found the previous gen to be cuddly-cute and what I previously wanted, I now find the 2012 to be a true zombie killer in styling.
