Well , we took a Plasma Purple ( ) ES with the CVT for a test drive of 12 miles ( 44 at start ) that included a step hill up a street , some stop/go ( 4 lights , 4 stop signs ) traffic on a busy business district road and a stint on a thruway . The car went up the steep hill with ease but with enough engine noise , being a 1.2 come to expect it . Then turned left onto a street and then right down another taking a few sharp corners coming to a stop at the busy 2 lane road . Turned right onto it coming to 3 consecutive red lights . The 1st red light the car made a mild thunk while coasting to a stop ( engine shutoff ? ) . Then got onto a on ramp after 3rd light to get to the thruway . The steering does take some getting acquainted to as it is sluggish . It had plenty of umph when applying a fair amount of pressure to the pedal . The car did well merging onto the interstate without feeling insecure . The CVT glides with very little resistance . Did pass a CUV with ease and kept up with others . The ride was fairly comfortable and the brakes did quite well . Will have to try out a 5 speed manual and another CVT . Don't fully agree with all the negativity of C.R. and Topgear , a bit harsh , for each their own . Hopefully a few others here will test drive a Mirage and give their take on it . The cabin had plenty of headroom in the front , the rear had less . My head was about an inch or less from touching it .

Picked these up at the dealer . Here's the Thunder Gray they have . It looks of a dark green at a certain angle . That was squeezed in between other cars and didn't want to bother them with it .

Yeah, they could have thought of a better name for that color . Definitely enough headroom in the front (I'm between 6'3" and 6'4" and have a tall torso for my height..and ugh..shorter legs....so I 'sit tall'). I didn't sit normally in the back (trying to release the seats with the hatch closed and the package shelf in place).

Have to pull on the ribbon on the back of seat to fold them down . Could be a bit of a hassle when reaching through the rear door entry . Not easy to find , the salesman had to point them out .

My rep handed me this brochure (unsolicited). I got the feeling he was kind of at the end of whatever length of rope they were giving him. He wasn't a very good rep, so lack of production would be an understandable result.

The rear visibility didn't seem any worse than the Yaris H.B.. Forgot to mention there was wind noise from the front when on the interstate.

...and if (one of multiple scenarios that might require pulling the back seat forward (package shelf in place) without getting out of the car) you are in a super tight parking space in the rain and want to get something out of that covered (as in the Yaris) area you are SOL, as one can (with much effort) reach back and eventually grab either of the ribbons, but they won't release from that angle.

That is really inexpensive. Has your relative who is a mechanic looked under the hood of a new Mirage? I'd love to know what he/she thinks re the wiring to visible parts/systems (especially at points where wires connect to a part) under the hood....is such wiring secure enough and well protected enough from 'the elements'/weather?

That price is in the Northwest , we're in the Northeast . The Mirage we drove is 70 miles away so the relative wouldn't be able to observe what's under the hood . I forgot to locate the oil filter . The oil weight wasn't stamped on the oil cap like that of Toyotas .

I agree on the idea that it's an awesome color, would mind having that color on my car which is probably what I'm going to do soon
