Such a fun little car.

Surprised not to see more comments from you regarding the test drives...

I really like the sheet metal design of the Ford Fiesta, and the ST must be fun! But, the car is crap!

Not a fan of any German cars, but everything about Audi sheet metal design makes sense. And, unlike most brands, Audi can make massive grilles... and they look good.

Test drove the 2017 toyota 86

pic is of the left over FRS i drove the 86
thought it would be too small inside but at 6-1 185 i fit fine
sweet steering wheel paddle shifting 6 speed auto
like the minimalist interior styling
spectacular handling of course
shocked how slow it is off the line ... the i3 would destroy it
dont like the subaru sounding harley davidson exhaust note

not a big fan of the iM but all lined up they look kinda cool

I drove up to Oregon to sell my Metro, and I'll be driving whatever bargain-basement car Hertz puts me in tomorrow 1,300 miles back home. I'm looking forward to experiencing the latest in penny-pinching technology.

Most Hertz locations rent the Yaris. Why don't you request one in advance for your rental?

I love that picture! If you drive 80+ in the Yaris, how fast did you cruise in the Corvette?

I took that road by accident once, in 2014. Missed a turn in Hawthorne. I knew I'd get to 395 eventually, so I stuck with the unplanned detour. Yosemite was on fire at the time.

You were right. The choices for Economy were Yaris, Yaris, or Yaris. So, I got a '15 Yaris. No cruise control.

Hertz considers the Hyundai Accent or Nissan Versa an upgrade over the Yaris.

I'm more interested in finding out how the Mirage or a Spark drives, since the Yaris hasn't changed much over the years. I guess it would still be interesting to compare a 2016/17 Yaris to my 2009. I'll be happy with whatever I get, as long as they don't "upgrade" me to something that uses lots of gas.

Will do! I already got some good ones on the way up, at Walker Lake in Nevada.

Gt-86 as my summer road legal track/hobby car. Plan on supercharhing it and eventually doing an LS swap. Basically my long term hobby car to have the time to tinker with and race at the track for fun

Keeping my yaris as long as possible as my dd and eventually plan on passing it along to my son. It would be 24 years old by then but with a 2011 2zr in it

Keeping the Yaris as a DD. Been looking at a Forester or Outback for an adventure wagon. Waiting for what the 2018 Forester will be like, supposed to be a new model generation.

For some reason, the Toyota FRS/86 looks like one of those mail-order kit-cars that you build yourself at home - especially from the rear.

The Toyota iM is unpalatable, except in black. It's the only way to stomach that front-end design.

Either a Toyota MR2 or a Honda S2000.

^ i was thinking about the cx-3 because i want awd and get as fuel efficient as possible(that's why i'm looking at imprezas right now too). i heard the interiors are really nice, but that it's more cramped than our beloved yaris!

side note: i've seen about a BILLION cx-5, but have NEVER seen a cx-3 in person! is the price difference so little that everyone goes for the bigger model?

I never liked leasing cars. Feels like you are renting a car, and can't do anything to it to really to make it yours. Too confining for me.

I'm with you, but it works well for folks that know they're going to get bored with a car in a few years, or folks (like my better half) that get car allowance from their work.

Even with the car allowance, my better half decided to hang on to her 2011 Accord Coupe for a while longer. I love the fact that my Yaris has been paid off for years. I can afford a new car payment, but not having one and occasionally modding my Yaris (and having that money to spare) has been fun.

Not going to lie, the new car bug was close to infecting me last year.

Agreed. I think it would feel like driving someone else's car... and that doesn't really appeal to me.
