in addition to the upcoming chevy sonic, i was looking at the incoming kia rio and hyundai accent and i have to admit the new yaris is looking incredibly bland. the hyundai accent looks like it may be right around 41 mpg (us). the sonic, if nothing else, is going to be a blast to drive.
for me personally, the yaris is going to have to hit a home run in the mileage department to have some real appeal. |

IMO the one big selling point the Yaris has over the competition is its great reliability. The pedal-issues have not had such an impact on sales or image over here. The current model is at the top of its class in Europe and I'd be surprised if the new one would be any different in that aspect. Chevy still has a lot of proving to do in that department, but Hyundai/Kia have improved their reliability massively. Resale value-wise the Toyota still beats them hands down.
It's going to get interesting in this segment, even though Toyota has built itself an undeniable reputation with the Yaris. |

Some hyundais or Kias look better than Toyotas, but I would never exchange a Toyota for a Korean car.
So, when will the 2012 yaris be available in Canada? |

That Chevy is fugly.
The Korean cars are worth peanuts on trade after just a couple of years. I want a reliable car with a name that gets RESPECT....

Thanks Dave, but since this a new redesigned model, usually Toyota rolls them out a few months earlier. Hopefully they will do the same this time.

The dash was definitely influenced by the Fit but at least the Fit has an upper glove box where the Yaris eliminated both upper ones. The new cup holders wont keep drinks cool in summer or coffee warm in winter any more either. :(
