I am not complaining in the least .. but I just think that my highway mileage should be better. Maybe it is time for a road trip .. where I can go on the highway for some time and see how my mileage plays out.

Drop some Techron or other fuel system cleaner with 93 octane and then take it out on the highway for some site seeing . Keep us updated on your pursuit of better F.E..

I avoided an accident like this last week, but it was in my '81 Z-28. I could see the guy talking on his cell phone as he went off the road to avoid. I got out and blasted the crap out of him....

, see them all the time . From the teens to the elderly . Also saw a state trooper on a cell while driving the S.U.V. patrol vehicle . We've had 2 cars totaled thanks to being rear ended . Makes you a bit leery of what's going on back there .

Hey guys... I've only filled my car up twice so far... I have a 2010 five speed, three door base model. I've only filled the car up twice with fuel, this last fill up I got 42 MPG. It was mostly highway, but I was going 72 the whole time. I also had the A/C on for about 1/4 of the tank. It's very humid here, so I know the engine doesn't like moisture.
Does 42 sound okay? I have been driving a standard transmission for quite some time now, so I know what I'm doing. Now I'm just trying to perfect my shift timing. I've been shifting at about 2,000, I read somewhere on here that 1,500 is a good spot for the engine, is this correct? I plan on getting 50+ this fall, when the air gets dryer, and I don't have to use the A/C. |

Seems reasonable . Most hover around 37 for gas mileage .

That sounds about right to me. They say that anything over ~60mph decreases gas mileage so you have to expect a little bit of that. |

Just got my 2012 Yaris SE 5spd a month ago and I'm loving the gas mileage! I got tired of driving my 04 Tundra that was averaging 12-13mpg(mainly city). So far I've gotten 34.XX mpg with my first tank and 33.9X with my second fill up with 50/50 mix city and freeway driving. I drove to Reno and back home last week and got a little over 43mpg.

I usually get around 42 MPG, but yesterday I filled up, and on my first real hard try to get better mileage, using pulse and glide, I got 47.3 MPG :) I'm pretty happy with that. Just shows that a little work can go a long way....

I just got a new best tankful today. Can I say cool ...
I got 696 KM for 5.40 L/100 KM .. this is my best tank ever so I am happy. This is 52.28 Imperial MPG / 43.53 US MPG. I am trying to break 700 km .. so I am getting close. I could have done it today, but I didn't want to risk running out of gas or something crazy like that. I filled up shortly after my last bar started blinking (I am not one to push it and see how far I can go). I did stop for lunch first .. This makes a lifetime average of 5.88 L/100 KM or 48.25 Imperial MPG or 40.18 US MPG. So .. I am getting better. My first tankful at 34.82 US MPG is really killing my lifetime average. This is with my tires at 32 PSI .. Probably about 85% city driving and 15% highway driving. |

I wanted to break 700 too, and last summer I could have done it, but we were leaving from our vacation, and there would be no gas stations for quite a while, and I was sitting at 676.6 km and when I filled up, it only took 36.53 . Defintiely would have broken it. Woulda coulda shoudla! The winter REALLY killed my average though...
