I have not read all of this just the first 4 pages. Coming from the honda mugen or nismo world this is a bargain. A mugen shift KNOB only can run this much. My father in law is a machinist and has been for 35 years i should have him make a few ...lol.

my brother and step-dad are both machinist, they have taught me how build stuff on the computer so they can be CNC machined... so if I got ahold of one of these I am sure I could get them reproduced. I already designed a shiftknob for myself.

Just got/installed mine =). Easy install if your hands/arms are small enough haha (otherwise you may have to move the battery). Two clips and voila!
I LOOOOOVE it... It makes the throws feel like they should! Not too notchy (like an S2000 or something), just snappier and more... precise. I think that's the best way to describe it: Before it was a bit sloppy and ambiguous, After it is accurate and feels more precise. I take issue with the gripes about the cost. While it is just a machined piece of aluminum, it does exactly what it advertises. Even for $135, I believe it to be the FIRST upgrade I would make to a new manual Yaris, knowing what I know now. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!!! Tim |

That is scary... You'd barely need to flick the lever... is there such a thing as too short throw shifter? Stay tuned, folks, as our fearless investigator Nutzoids will soon discover...

Update - 02/09/2007
Got the TRD Quickshifter doohickey earlier than expected (woohoo) and installed it shortly thereafter. Installation was a breeze, two clips and a washer, bada bing bada boom. I've yet to take it for a drive, but will do so very shortly.

Holy Short Shiftness Batman!
This thing works REALLY WELL. The throws are amazing short now and it feels great with a ball style shift knob I just installed as well (reference Speed Star Mesh for the tC). I can hold the knob like video game stick (think Street Fighter 2, with those ball and shaft style joy sticks) and throw it around all the gears with very little effort. I'm quite happy with it. Thanks again to echo_hrs for being the TRD guinea pig I'll try my best to be the first to discover/buy the next TRD related product.

Add another one for the TRD quickshifter. Just installed it this weekend. Much shorter to get into gear, does it's job.

Hey, what happened to the people trying to reproduce the TRD piece? I don't want to pay $130 or more for a block of aluminum! Are things still in the works or has it been abandoned?

Hasn't been abandoned... its looking good for a couple months from now. Question is can you wait that long?
Hey, hack your shifter. It'll tide you over. Oh, and we're getting bushings, too. |
