With the lift back having 4 storage places in the dash I store 2 umbrellas, one umbrella behind the steering wheel for the driver and one umbrella under the passenger side air bag for the passenger. I put a replacement head light bulb in the small storage area below the steering wheel. The standard storage place has the Toyota owner's manual and other paper work.

well, the other day I put my breakfast in there and completely forgot about it. I found it yesterday, completely dried up! doh. But usually, I put stuff like my glasses, my iPod or whatever is in my hands when I get in the car. I don't leave anything in there, though, except kleenexes or other non-valuable stuff.

I use the driver's side gb for the personal stuff I need (sunglasses, gate punch, etc.) The passenger side gb is kept totally empty. I use it to stash small purchases I make when I'm out running errands or when I pick up the mail. It's easier than putting stuff in back.

Hey I want all those places to store stuff... I had to buy a sedan for my son, but wouldn't you think in a car "set up" for a little family they would give you more places to store stuff? From the second I sat in the car the first time I was wondering if I should just put a notebook and pen on the dash in front of me... It feels like a desk so why not make it one? Then I was trying to figure out why they didn't make it storage to the point I looked under the dash to see if it was all cluttered with computers and it wasn't... Didn't know untill I came across this thread in the hatches the same area is used as gloveboxes... bummer.... wonder if the dashes are interchangable?? Be a pain and costly but wonder if able to be done?

I will mention, if it hasn't already been in the last 6 pages, that the passenger side upper compartment stores two beer bottles nicely for when you need to transport some drinks (unopened, of course) from one location to another and don't want them shaking around in the trunk.

Was thinking of getting that radio for a long time now - how do you like it?

Any pics of this install? Is it distracting to use the radio with the glove
box door open? I've been thinking about what I could install in there. The
more the general public knows about this hiding place the less I want to
have something valuable in there.

I really enjoy amatuer radio. The new IRLP technology allows me to talk around the world on 5 watts using a local repeater. Dayton Ohio has the worlds largest Amatuer radio convention in May. I would be glad to show you around. You could even take your license exam and purchase your first radio at the show. "73" (HAM lingo for best wishes)

I use the drivers glove box for my lisence, registration, and insurance card. But get this. I use the left cupholder (closed) for my swipe card to open the gate at work. PERFECT!

Impossible to put anything in that drivers side glove box as it will get soaked with spilled coffee.
