5spd, first tank... Driving Miss Daisy style of driving with some mild hypermiling throwin : pulse and glide in and a lot of DFCO coasting in gear... No interstate mostly 55mph country roads(70%) and some in-town stop and go (30%) thrown in...
First Tank Stats 377 miles 9.08 gallons 41.5 mpg I can hardly wait till she gets broken in.... |

With 16,523 on the odometer, I got the following mileage on the last two tank fill ups. (It looks like winter fuel is completely out of the system.)
48.34 MPG and 47.36 MPG.

Wow... I am pleased it's getting better... Through on the spun discs and even with a different route going through ATlanta rush hr (not normal) I got 42.5 my 3rd tank...
Just upped the tire pressure to 44fr/40rr at the last fill-up... and over 45 miles the dash mpg meter said over 45 avg and my best before was 41.5... I am surprised at how much fun this is becoming... I wonder how I can get up to 50 without having to drive too crazy... |

Hi Guys,
I have had my 2012 Yaris 1.5L 5 door Automatic for around 1 month now and after reading the fuel millage that people are getting my numbers aren't getting close. Here is a link to my fuelly. I have recorded every single fill up since getting it do I only don't know the cost of the dealership's tank they put in for me http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rison/yaris As you can see on fuelly it has all been 95ULP with no ethanol except for 2 which one was 98ULP and the other was 91 with ethanol (the latest one). The car has done around 3300km's does these numbers seem normal? I am driving about about 20% city driving and 80% Highway. I am not sure if it is just because of the difference in fuel types cause of been in Australia. I have had the free service at around 1,000km that the dealer does other then that I have not done anything. Cheers, Matt |

I am wondering if changing the oil will help? I am not sure if it is the same in Australia or not but people seem to be getting better mileage after changing the oil? If I can get a constant 6.2-6.5L/100km I will be very happy. But I am really enjoying the car anyway and it is better then my previous car. Cheers, Matt |

I think mine is up there mostly with the tire inflation... mild hypermiling... and that my avg speed on my commute is low 40mph and my high speed is usually only 60 mph....
The 2012 has an mpg monitor setting after the trip meter... I notice that at interstate speeds above 70 mph its hard to get those good numbers... and when i am going through one stretch that is 45 mph my numbers go way up!!! Are your aussie gal's imperial? I am not sure of the conversion factor... and what engine do you have in your cars??? I am wondering about this tank as I have been utilizing the CC I installed (Thanks CT Scott) as much as possible and my meter which has been a lil low has me averaging over 43 mpg... Tomorrow may be the day, but then I may try to see just how many miles i can sqeeeze out of her 11.1 gal tank..... (has me thinking i wish i would have tried to squeeze a lil extra in there... How kewl would 500 mi tank be...) |

If I ran mine until it ran out it would be 518 miles on the tankful, as it is getting 46.7 MPG both by calculation and on the built in MPG meter.

Hershey posted a link to a YouTube video that features the reviewer doing a loop of non Interstate/Freeway driving behind the wheel of a Prius C and giving commentary while driving. I didn't know what why? was eluding to until I watched the YouTube video that Hershey posted the link to.

As discussed by several people on one of the 'how long does each gas tank bar last on the Yaris' threads, the first bar lasts the longest (if you fill ALL THE WAY to THE TOP) because the tank stops registering at 11.1 gallons. I ran out of gas while pulling into a station (to get gas) in California. I filled that tank all the way to the top and it took 12.777 gallons. I regularly get within .25 or .20 gallons of that. Why? once wrote that at least part of the reason for that is that the bladder in my gas tank behaves differently being primarily in a Humid Subtropical climate. A 46.7 MPG rate in my car would take me 596.68 miles before running out.
