In terms of prep, dyno it like you drive it for the most accurate result.

You might write down a few things to compare to future dynos, ambient air temp, humidity, tire pressure, what fuel is in the car, etc.

I will... just normal 87 gas 40 psi in the tires and no other changes so that the conditions will be as similar as possible between the two sets of runs.

Some pics with the air filter removed...

You can see how close the throttle body and MAF sensor are to the stack.

And heres a video of the engine running...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQt2uJ7PYfQ

There's not much intake noise even with the camera stuck up close. In the beginning the ECU was fishing around for an idle mixture trying to adjust to the open intake, but found its equilibrium by the end of the video.

They have some great stuff on there, but you're certainly paying a premium for it. Just a shot in the dark, but I'm guessing the MI prototype will come in well under $800, right?

I think that's an exhaust manifold, not an intake manifold?

Interesting...

Looks like they tried to make the runners as long as they could by rotating them 90 degrees counterclockwise around the axis of the exhaust exit...

What a deal... for just eight. Does that include free shipping? I'll take the Weapon R for two.

Intake noise is really only apparent at WOT under load. Sitting still at idle generates nothing. Sitting still and punching the throttle only produces a brief sucking sound. Out on the road, WOT is what makes them growl, which btw, cannot be heard with anything but the oem exhaust installed.

That TRD header would add some real nice JDM swag to the Yaris.

Yes, I found that out when I did some flat out runs on the freeway last week, in preparation for the dyno tune. Could hear a slight roaring sound over the exhaust at wide open throttle.

In normal driving it's just as quiet as the stock air box... which makes the little lady happy.

I think the Weapon R is much better looking...

...especially at 25% of the cost.

Ive been running a ram air duct into my air box with the opening in the foglight hole. Ive ran 3 tanks this way with no noticeable difference in mpg. Highway power maybe feels better?

Im thinking ill make my own proper CAI using the blox...i really like that and i think i can squeeze it in the bumper...i got hammers...

I got hammers...

I was checking around on ebay and it appears that BLOX also makes a much smaller 4 inch diameter velocity stack filter...

You can tell the smaller filter diameter because it has almost no taper as compared to the 7.5 inch filter, but yet has the same black plastic end cap. The only unknown is the inlet diameter, but that could be determined simply by asking the seller. One negative... it's pricey at $77 including shipping.

edit: from checking around, that may actually be a 4 inch inlet filter and not useable on the Yaris. The seller could confirm whether the filter itself is 4 inch diameter, or the inlet is 4 inch diameter.
