Hello from Ontario Canada, just purchased an 07 Sedan, 70k, automatic, air, !5" tires, windows locks. to replace our old Malibu as a second vehicle. So far it seems to be a great little car, a little "skittish" on the highway but I guess I need to get used to the short wheelbase, light car compared to the heavier old Malibu it replaced. Interestingly I went to the local dealer to cut a spare key (I have the two original remote keys) and was told it was $300 for a remote key or $100 for the non-remote, chipped key. Gave them the VIN too. I went to a local locksmith, he checked the key, no transponder, $7 for a nice padded replacement key. I called the dealer back and they said their parts lookup via VIN noted it was supposed to have an immobilizer. The $7 key works just fine, dealer parts guy is scratching his head.

New to Yaris.

I recently bought my used Yaris, originally sold new in April 2012. Took my wife to the local Toyota dealer as she wanted to get a new Aurion to replace our Holden (Chevy in the USA) Captiva. We had decided we needed to buy a second vehicle as well, so I took the Yaris for a test drive. Wow, what a fun car. it's the base model with the 1.3L VVT-i motor. In six weeks of ownership, I have driven the Aurion 3 times when going out as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers). Each time, I think to myself how much more I enjoy driving the Yaris.

I found this site, and the amount of info is amazing. CTScott is a legend for the knowledge he is sharing. I will be keeping my Yaris basically stock. Only mods so far are better headlight bulbs, LED reversing lights and a reversing camera. I'm waiting for the Cruise Control switch to arrive from overseas, as I am having trouble holding this little bundle of fun down to the speed limit...

Two days ago my wife showed me a 2008 Yaris on a local buy/sell/swap website. 87,000 miles. $4,000 asking price. Yesterday morning we went to take a look.

5 speed. Cruise control. Power windows and locks. Rear wiper and defroster. AM/FM/CD/MP3(WMA) with the aux. input. Badly cracked windshield. One non-stock rim. A few other minor cosmetic dings. The car had been parked for a long time, as evidenced by the 2014 tags on the plate. The dipstick didn't want to come out easily either, but there wasn't any unusual evidence of condensation under the fill cap and the engine ran smoothly and quietly.

The car drove well enough too, except for a very slight brake pulse. The tire pressure warning light was also on, and one tire was visibly low. At the conclusion of our test drive I noticed a growing puddle of oil under the engine and everywhere on the bottom-sides. We told the guy we'd think about it and drove off.

An hour later we offered $3,000, and the offer was eagerly accepted (too eagerly, which made us more than a little nervous).

Lost all of the oil on the drive home excepting one quart. Incidentally, I added that quart halfway home. The oil pressure light never did come on though. Also stopped at the store on the way home and bought fresh oil and a new filter.

Sure enough, the filter (Fram) had corroded and the paint on it was bubbling, and one of the bubbles had a sizable split in it: the source of the leak. Changed the oil and filter, put air in the tires (all were down around 20psi), and took it for another drive. No more oil leak, but the tire light was still on.

Haven't decided whether I'll get a sensor for the non-stock rim or pull the bulb on the warning light. Checked with Toyota and had them order parts for the seat recall (three open recalls on the rig, the most critical being the overheating power window switch). Also visited an old buddy who runs the local glass shop and had him order me up a windshield ($570 installed if I remember right).

Tomorrow I'll switch over the title and get the Yaris registered. Then I'll start driving it, and brace myself for the trauma of selling my beloved 98 Metro (bought it new and will hate to see it go, but it's worth something now and won't be worth anything if it rusts much more). I'll miss the gas mileage (why is it that only hybrids can compete against Metros for economy?), but perhaps the Yaris will prove to be as reliable. Only time will tell...

Hello all. I just got myself a 2007 Yaris SR 1.8.

Just some general questions. I'm going to keep it standard for a while, it is the fastest car I've owned so it should keep me entertained for a while. When I do get to modding I'm thinking a cotton panel air filter and some chassis reinforcement. So far I've found Fensport to be the best source of mods online. Speculating about what I may do later, I've seen a few turbo options for the 2zr-fe but all for the Corolla, do you guys find engine bay space to be a problem when it comes to adding parts? Also since lotus started using the 2zr-fe for the Elise in supercharged form, are there any lotus parts I should look into for gains (never mind the obvious supercharger route)?

New to YarisWorld, long time non-registered lurker though.

Hello all!

Just finally joining in to participate and research. I couldn't get my last account to work and had no responses from the Admins, so here I am starting over.

I've followed the forum over the years, mostly lurking and reading about the Blitz/Ogura supercharger over the years for fun. I currently own (although it's sold when Spring snow in NY melts a k20z1 JRSC Ep3), and have moved onto a 2012 Scion iQ.

When I picked it up it had under 18,000 miles, Katzkin leather seats, aftermarket moonroof, added TRD wing, and foglights. Otherwise 100% stock.

I picked up the iQ since I now work from home, am married, and needed to get rid of the harsh riding civic and R32. Since my wife drives 45 minutes one way everyday and can't drive manual the iQ fits perfectly into our lives.

Having said all that, the mod bug bit and being on a very strict budget, I've started researching and trying to find little things to make me enjoy taking it through the mountains of PA where we currently reside. I've used a lot of older cast off spare parts from my Ep3 in the process.

Current items on the install list or already installed....

205/50/15 Advan Neova tires
15x7 35et Volk TE37 wheels
Razo 320mm broadway mirror
Razo pedal kit
DIY homemade 16mm rear swaybar
DIY CVT extension to bring up shift handle to my reach/height
Ancient Bride Zeta 2 shell rehopolstered and mounted to floor (I'm 6'4" and stock seat have no lateral support)
K&N filter
MI crank pulley (not installed)
1ZZ throttle body (not installed)
Tein H-Tech springs (not installed)
Repurposed turbo header (not installed, looking to see if it's a viable idea)

Thanks guys!!!
