Unmodified Micro Image fog light kits on eBay
Garm has put the unmodified Fog light kits up on eBay. These come with generic wiring as opposed to the modified wiring in the kits he sold on the Micro Image He is selling them with a bezel, either hatchback or Sedan.

May be a dumb question, but what's the difference?

I believe the original kit had 2 special pins that would plug directly into the headlight connector in the fusebox.
I guess you can order those 2 pins from Toyota and splice them into the wiring from the kit. Can't remember the part number for them, but i think barjo posted them in his fog lights install video on youtube.

Oh dear...have you been able to find any instalation instructions, because, as I recall, the PDF file with the write-up was originally hosted by the microimage forum.
My only suggestion is to drill a smaller (3/4") hole for the rocker switch and use a small file to widen it and make the small knotch to fit the switch through. It worked a bit better for me that way, since i didn't have the correct size drill.

I just don't really understand what is exactly different with this kit. Looks like everything is included.

I haven't received mine yet but it is just a generic kit. The kits as sold by Micro Image (the online store), I believe, came with the wires (Toyota P/N 82998-12340) that plugged in the headlight power connector, a relay (Toyota P/N 84140-52151) and an improved inside switch and wiring.
There is a good how to on youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bilhPerqVEo Last edited by Sirius-XM; 07-02-2015 at 03:48 PM. |
