Anyone replace their oil drain plug with one of these?
http://www.qwikvalve.com/
I just read about this on some blog, anyone use one? Any problems? I think this would be great if you change your own oil. And if you decide you don't want to change your own oil once in a while just bring the plastic bit and the hose with you to the oil change place. So. How long have you had it on your car? And have you had any problems with it? |

Yes. I have Fumoto quick valves on all of my vehicles. The oldest one I have had on for over 5 years without issue. If you are lowered, you need to be careful as the valve hangs lower than the drain bolt head would have.

I put these on every car I own at my first oil change. Sometimes the lever might not be oriented exactly the way you want, but I've never had any leaks or issues. Well built units.

Car is stock height. They have one that is made for cars that have been lowered. I'll probably end up getting that one as i do go over speed bumps quite often.

I got one a couple years ago and I had the unfortunately luck of the valve stripping my oil pan and leaked oil. I'm a small percentage of this happening, but thought I'd let you know it does.

They do recommend you install the safety spring just in case, which I would highly recommend because it also keeps some punk from draining your oil easily should they be crawling around underneath your car for whatever reason. The valve adapter and safety spring I bought for my RX-8 is still new in the box. I'd give mine to you but it looks like the drain plug size is not the same. |

I have been using those for a long time. Some cars seem to always have a
little bits attracted. Cheap insurance, if you change your oil. Steve |

Got them on my Bike and Land Cruiser, but I don't like the location for the yaris, so I past. Plus I change my oil once per year, so it's not all that needed in my case.
