center caps for 15" steelies?

I want to get rid of the ugly plastic hubcaps and run the steel wheels bare- but I DO think it requires a center cap cover for the unsightly center hole. I saw these 2.25" center caps (the size of the center hole in the 15" steel wheels) that are used on the Corolla 15" wheels for sale on centercaps.net for $12.99 each. I ordered them yesterday and will see if they'll snap into the center hole on my Yaris' steelies. I'll let you know if this works out.

Lewis

p.s. Has anyone found caps that work? I'm not wild about the look of the NAPA ones shown on the site in a past posting.

you need one of those black center caps found on 98 Corolla VE's.

Lewis, I just don't see those working out for you. Let us know what you can make of them. IllusionX has a good suggestion for you.

What's ugly is the unpainted, rusty, threaded end of the hub protruding in the center of the wheels. A bit of judiciously applied black Rustoleum could help a lot. I think the black steelies look as good as any of the black mags folks are putting on these days.

You can always do this: spot the appropriate center caps in public, wait for the owner to return and offer cash (probably cheaper than $12 each). You can also test fit on the spot. This should work with beaters, who's gonna care about missing caps when theres rust all over the fenders

Since about 1965 for me.

I think it a bit strange to call wheels "rims."

tercel caps on my wheels, in case you were curious what they'd look like on your car.

I found them at a salvage yard, got all 4 for 5 bucks, sprayed em black then clear coated them... they fit nice and snug

Thanks so much Coffiend! Based on your advice I switched my order to what you're using! If anyone is interested in buying them I found them at centercaps.net - their catalog # 2672 (what I bought) for $19.99 each.

Also- # 1291 looks exactly like what Coffiend is using ($18.99).

My opinion- the center caps on the steel wheel looks WAY better than the hubcap- much more suitable on an economy car than an obviously fake alloy by way of a cheesy plastic cover. I do plan to paint the actual steel wheels silver (a DIY job) - like it was on the Tercel and Corolla so it looks more OEM (leaving the cap black) when I have the time BTW. When done I'll post a photo.

p.s.- I love this forum- so far thanks to the forum I discovered the rear anti-sway bar - which transformed the car's handling for the better and now these caps. The last thing I want to do to my car is a tach (my car has a manual and IMO manual cars should always be equipped with a tach)- but so far the OEM S model cluster swap solution (which is the only one that looks ok to me) is feeling too pricey from the dealer and practically impossible to find the correct one (i.e. with a tach, ABS and for a manual trans) on eBay.

I scored these 4, brand spanking new center caps on eBay.
Starting bid was $10.00 for all four. Absolutly no one else bid on them!

They were delived today as were my trim rings.
I installed them and they look great.

Hmmm, although not attractive IMO, those would less unsightly than nothing when running the winter boots on OEM steelies.
