Dixie, Solo National Tour

ilikerice (Derek) and myself will be competing in SMF with all the Hondas. There are currently 11 cars total in SMF, which is a rather nice field. This will be my first national event, I think I have my car in a good place to possibly give these Honda guys a run. I will most likely get my ass handed to me.... but Im hoping not. We shall see. Entry list thus far : http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...2#.VO0bNf45DIU

Stay tuned for updates, event is March 13-15.

I am actually going back to STF for a while. I went to the SCCA MSX conference Expo in Charlotte last weekend and I learned so much that I feel that I really need focus on my driving before doing any more modification to my car. I am pulling out my CamCom, welding a new cat on to my Nitto midpipe, putting my OEM throttle body back on and switching tires to some 205/50 Rivals.

With the little bit of mods I have, SMF will eat me alive.

See you there!

Agreed. There are very few National-level SMF cars in my area, but when one shows up, it puts the hurt on me. Bad.

you are switching from SMF in Dixie? I gotta deal with the Hondas all by myself?

@Justin
Yea, sorry man. I see the entry list... and I have looked up thier times in other regions... I would be happy to not get last place in that class.

@xnamerxx
Holy crap, I think you are correct
F. The engine management system parameters and operation of internal
combustion engines may be modified only via the methods listed below.

2. Supplementary (“Piggyback”) ECU may be used subject to the following
restrictions:
a. Connects between the standard ECU/PCM and its wiring harness
only.
b. Must be plug-compatible with the standard ECU/PCM (no splices).
3. Electronic components may be installed in-line between an engine’s
sensors and ECU/PCM. These components may alter the signal coming
from the sensor in order to affect the ECU/PCM operation of engine
management system. Example: Fuel controllers that modify the
signal coming from an airflow sensor.

My assumption was that if it was spliced in, then you can't use it. Where it says in 2.b. must be plug compatible with the ecu, no splicing...

can you clarify that for me.. I guess as long as I am using 1 of the methods, which I will be using number 3... correct?

Correct you will be using #3. Brian Harmer was running a CAMCOM on his STF car and it was completely legal, it had to be since he is a SCCA employee.

Thats funny. I had just emailed that guy to change my class from SMF to STF..

GOOD TO KNOW! thanks for noticing. This whole time I thought it was illegal.

YAY! Now I don't have to undo all my work I tried so hard to make look pretty.
