Pictures from Sundays 2-member meetup & vinyl install in Portland

Well, eric81 made the 2+ hour drive to meet up with me and do the vinyl racing stripe install on my car. We met up at the Arby's parking lot by my apartment, went through the car wash where we both scrapped bottom on the exit, drove about 8 miles to my co-workers house and proceeded to install our YW decals and my dark charcoal metallic racing stripes. It was a lot of fun and great to meet Eric. While talking in the parking lot a gal in another blazing blue liftback with the 18" trd wheels noticed us and gave a big grin and wave (wished she would have stopped though to say hi, could have recruited another member). Withought further ado, here are the pics!

My co-worker's name is Eddie, and he comepelty kicks major ass on doing vinyl installs, including full wraps. If anyone local needs any work done to their vehicles let me know.

Time for a group buy on stripes - But, the price has to include shipping Eddie around to install them for us...

eric81 (Eric) is the red head. NST shirt guy is Astroman, and Eddie is the skinny guy with glasses doing all the work. He did a great job though. Props to him.

Great, I needed another idea. Thanks Astro! Looks like fun, and I love the stripes! Could be a TOUCH wider, but that is personal preference.

You could have watched the game on my 7" DVD head unit, it has a TV tuner.

I purchased the vinyl by the yard (15"x4yd) and had it cut at work. Cost for the vinyl was about $40 total, and cut it into two 6.25" stripes. From the back it looks especially good combined with the wing. Something Eric81 pointed out is on the meteorite metallic it has some dark speckles, while the metallic vinyl I picked out (3M Dark Charcoal Metallic) has silver speckles, so it's almost like looking at a negative. Once I get a chance (hopefully this weekend) I'll have the chance to get some better pictures.

And yes, I am the white guy with glasses wearing the NST shirt and mummy had, Eric81 is the redhead in the blue shirt, and my man Eddie is the one doing pretty much all the work in the pictures. (I helped line up the stripes, lol.) Eddie pretty much eyeballed everything, very little measuring was done. The hardest part was getting the stripes to look straight on the front because of the shape of the car and lines on the front bumper and hood. Eddie did most of the work because I only have just over 2 months experience working with vinyl, while Eddie has 4 years. But seriously, if anyone wants professional work done he's the guy. My whole job was done without using any heat to help form the vinyl.

Hey eric81, did you figure out your MPG for the trip?

lol, no problem! The great thing is this vinyl is rated for at least 7 years (and I've seen jobs where this stuff has been on for 9 and it still looks good) and if I ever change my mind taking it off isn't that difficult. I wanted to go wider, but to get 2 stripes out of 15" vinyl only left me with about 12.75" usable area, so each stripe ended up being 6.25" wide. To go 8" wide would have put my cost to almost $80 which was a bit out of my range.

I really like the stripes, it's pretty much one of my favorite cosmetic mods I've done.

I haven't filledmy tank yet to see how many miles I went on how many gallons, but I am at almost 400 miles, and I'd be lucky to get 10 gallons in. In fact, I know I couldn't. I did a little bit of racing there and back too, so that didn't help the average, I am sure. I hit 100 once when this mini van finally scooted over (doing 60 for over 5 miles, pacing the car next to her) and I was averaging about 80 or so MPH the rest of the way. I love passing all those mustangs, BMW's, and huge SUV's. Drives em nuts when a little blue thing with nothing but a T on the back fly's past them with this loud and annoying humming noise coming from the exhaust. But, my plugs are deffinately better. I was able to accelerate pretty quickly several times after having to slow for others. I love these cars. They freakin ROCK! I will get those numbers for you soon. Drive On!
