Review: Magneticdrainplug.com's magnetic drain plug
From searching around on here I read that magneticdrainplug.com sold a nice plug for that fits the Yaris. I e-mailed them to inquire and Tim @ magneticdrainplug.com took the time to answer my basic questions. Very nice guy.
Anyway, I ordered the plug and a few extra washers and installed it last night during my first oil change. It's a very nice piece, and the magnet is quite powerful (it kept trying to stick to the drain pan as I threaded it in, lol), and it looks OEM. It even uses the same size socket that the OEM plug uses. For the how little it costs, and the fact that it could keep crud out of my engine/oil pump, I'd recommend it. If you want a pic of it ask and I'll e-mail it to you. The pic on their site is basically identical to the pic I took :D Buy it here: http://www.magneticdrainplug.com/Aut...lugs/AP03.html Last edited by schleppy; 04-19-2009 at 05:56 PM. |

Any place in person sell magnetic drain plugs? I don't feel like ordering one, but I really could since I won't be changing my oil any time soon.

Thanks. I think I'll order it a little before my oil change due date, wouldn't want to misplace it before hand. lol.

I feel a more effective alternative is a oil filter magnet. Check out filtermag.com

I HATE it that they don't provide a phone number. Seems like a good product, though.

The drain plug isn't in such a crucial flow path. Garm: The no phone number thing is odd, but they answered my e-mails fast, and I'm sure they would give you their number if you genuinely needed to talk to them. |

you can just take and jb weld a neodymium magnet onto your stock drain plug.... they are a dime a dozen.

If you've got that much metalic "gunk" building up in your filter, you've got far worse problems to deal with.
