1nz-fet TRD

Seen this Axios GT with TRD 1nz-fet for sale here in New Zealand and thought I would post the engine bay as I myself had seen the turbo engine but not the trd turbo version and that pipe work is awesome!

I want this motor and ecu.

Weird little japanese only Corolla offshoot, the turbo 1nz-fet is rare but this trd one is cool as, heres the exterior..not so cool i think the yaris vitz is way cooler looking it just needed this motor.

plumbing it for an IC would be tricky

Nah thats an intercooler on the front, the trd twin pipes go over the motor down to the turbo and then back over to the intercooler and then into the stock intake.

Its tiny, its the same one front mounted thats normally top mounted.

Its too bad the 1NZ is pretty much maxed out on the bottom end with the TRD turbo variants.

Does the 1nz-fet have the same conrods? Turbo variants normally have stronger conrods and deep dished pistons in my experience but have not been able to find info on the 1nz-fet as they are so rare.

i dunno..id say there probably just as may LHD as RHD....just the RHD's got more engine size options including 4wd, and more of the "performance" version

10-1 odds are the slugs are indeed different as a lowwer comp is generaly REQUIRED with turbo to make it survive and pass emissions requirements..but the con rods are not always different
but with the VVT being able to tweak the cams into bleeding compression or adding to it..they may not have neeeded to change the slugs even..just re-tune the brain and change the VVT timing

im very curious of it myself

Yeah if thats the case, the ECU is what you would want from one, everything else is easy and at that point may as well get a fancy aftermarket ecu with vvti and get it tuned, thats the dream haha

I keep looking at second hand aftermarket ecu but im not sure what to get or where to go to get it tuned etc.

from what ive learned..unless youve got a ton of disposable money to burn on a dyno....try and stay close to stock with small mods..which means if you want to turbo swap find a turbo ecu

Yes, to my knowledge the bottom end is the exact same as a regular 1NZ-FE, compression ratio is still ~10.5:1. AFAIK all they did was put a small turbo on it with a safe ~6psi or so of boost and send it out the door.

that begs the other question is the ecu different?...i mean if its the same bottom end and comp, looks like the intake is the same too...cams?

whats genuinely different?...besides the obvious like the intake tract including the turbo..yet the manifold looks like it might even be the same

I'm betting the ECU is different, or at least the tune is but I can't confirm anything. I'm kinda just going off speculation and what little info I can find on the interwebs lol
