Pretty happy with new Tach
I know a lot of you don't like larger gauges, but I was looking for something larger than a standard 2 incher and there is not a great selection until you get to the 5 inch units. Let me also state that I would not have normally chosen a 10K tach for obvious reasons, but the specific guage I finally settled on only came as what you see in the bid I won.
This guage comes from MST and I found out too late that they do offer lower rpm units including dual faces models with RPM and boost pressure for the forced induction guys. I like the fact that it is needle-less and the floating LED display is pretty eye catching. The gauge comes with software and can be fully programmed from a PC and it even has touch screen capability for setting rev parameters on the fly. I'm a little dissapointed that my 08 LB revs out at around 3.5K (is that an improper reading?) from idle. At 80MPH in 5th gear, I'm barely cresting 2K rpm. I'm pleased with how the housing turned out. Finding a 5 inch gauge pod proved virtually impossible, so I went to Home Depot and picked up a 3 inch PVC sleeve for less than 2 bucks. One side fit perfectly with the gauge lip to where it barely moves when slid on and I cut the other side at an angle using a table saw and some nerves. Once I got the cut right, I sanded it all down and applied several coats of flat black automotive plastic paint. See the following You-Tube Link for a video of it in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlXnKH6s2Ak Flame away!! |

The Yaris motor redlines (revs out) at 6500rpm's. are there settings on the back of the tach that allow you it to be compatable with 8,6,4 cylinder motors? If there is make sure it's on 4. Looks awsome!!
