Engine Power problem
Hi guys,
I have a Toyota Yaris (Year 2007) with 140 000 kms. It hasn't given me any problems so far. Still, yesterday when I was driving in the highway as fast as 125km/hour, I noticed it was loosing power. Even when I reduced the gearbox, the engine still responded very poorly. This morning, when I was driving in the highway, I had the same problem. The only way to keep the car going was by reducing the engine to the third gear and keep it going with the engine rotations very high. Any idea about what could be causing this? Could it be the turbo colapsing? Best |

What is the boost pressure?
It could also be a clogged fuel filter/line/injector. Any codes? |

Check the air filter and air intake system!
I had this happen to one of the engines I use at work one time. Symptoms were similar. Lack of power at open throttle. The cause was an air filter that was sucked in the intake, blocking airflow to the turbo inlet. Donno what kind of turbo set-up you have, but i think something like that can happen when you use junky filters, or when the filter becomes wet. Definitly check that first I would think.

Engine Power problem
Quote:
My guess is a stock turbo setup as I don't think there are many upgraded systems for a D4D Sent from my iPod Touch |

Hi,
Thanks for all your comments. The problem does not occur unless I am at the highway and with the engine rotations as high as 3000 rpm. When I am out of the highway, I drive very calmly and the engine rotations rarely goes as high as 3000 rpm. I changed the car filters (all) just a month ago... Do these cars have turbo? Could this be the problem? Thanks... |
