Digital fuel gauge doesn't respond to fuel from jerry can
I bought a plastic fuel container, and I've noticed that if I top up or fill my 2013 Yaris YR from this container, the needle fuel gauge immediately reflects the additional fuel, but the digital"Range" estimate doesn't.
The "Range" will happily reduce down to 0, and sit there, regardless of the level of fuel in the tank, for up to days, but when I fill at a petrol station, the range quickly resets. My theories so far: Is it some sort of grounding issue ? Totally weird bug in the electronics ? Some flow meter/sensor in the filler neck? Is there any way to force a reset of the "Range" display, other than going to a petrol station? Cheers, Andrew |
