Yaris vs Vitz

Hello to everyone,

So I was looking to buy a 2012 Yaris for my wife and while talking to quite a few used car dealers one of them made the following claim.

I should get a Vitz not a Yaris because cars manufactured in the E.U, France specifically, were of inferior quality to the Japanese made ones. Not talking about Toyota vs Opel, but the same car made at a different factory.

He also told me the parts were different and parts from the Toyota Yaris dont fit in the Vitz and vice versa, at that moment my bullshit detector went off, I thanked him and left.

I was under the impression that a Yaris and a Vitz were mostly the same car.

Is there any truth in what this guy was saying? Are E.U cars made to a lower standard ?
