2014 Toyota Yaris fog light question...
I have the car mentioned above built in Japan for the US market. The wiring harness is already run and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good set of plug and play aftermarket lights and reference any installation threads/videos that might be useful for this particular model?
Many thanks. |

Not a complete kit--no bezels or mounting hardware as far as I can tell.

I doubt you will find a complete kit.
For my 2009, I bought fog light housings, bezels, and bulbs on ebay. I looked up the OEM part numbers on Toyota online part store. I also purchased a toyota wiring assembly, of which I spliced with the fog light wiring, to connect the fog lights to the engine-side fuse panel (behind the battery). From there, I purchased a steering column stock with the fog light switch, installed the correct fuse (inside fuse panel), and I installed a relay. Attached is a guide that I followed. Should be very similar for a 2014. |

2012+ Yaris' are all pre-wired for fogs, get a pair from a junkyard or rockauto and a multifunction turn switch from a Toyota of the same era with fogs and they'll work. I got my switch from a 2010 Tundra. Even the fog light indicator in the cluster works.

Actually, I did find a complete kit and one that is OEM compatible.
I installed the lights in the proper place and connected them to the two wiring connectors which were already hanging there since the 2014 is pre-wired for fogs. Now I have a push-in push-out switch to go in the spot recently vacated by a dummy plate on my dashboard but where do I find the connector that should already be there to plug into the back of that switch? Thanks in advance. |

How would I be doing myself a favour as it still seems there would be a connection up top that needs to be made somewhere even with the stalk?
Anyone else? Really don't understand why it is so hard to get straight answers on this topic. |

There is no connector behind the filler panels. The fog light trigger wires run to the harness on the multifunction turn switch. Go grab a multifunction turn switch from a compatible vehicle that has the fog lights built in, swap it on and it will work.

So you're saying the only way to do this is to take the entire steering column assembly apart?!?
There has got to be another way. |

And that video truly applies to my 2014 Toyota Yaris? Just want to make certain there are no unwelcome surprises once the wheel comes off.

Is the STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS CBS1234 multifunction turn switch compatible? I don't have the time to try and run one to ground through the salvage yards.

That tutorial is 90% accurate for 3rd gens too, BUT the airbag on the steering wheel is held together with some silver tabs you need to press with a screwdriver, kind of a pain to do but its not too bad. Otherwise its the same procedure.
Be very careful with the clockspring. Its not cheap if you mess it up, highly recommend using some painters tape like in the video to secure it so you don't accidentally move it. Also no, you do not need threadlocker on the steering wheel nut, just snug it up and it will be fine.

Well, I was good to go until I saw the "90% accurate" and the "kind of a pain to do". Sounds like a REAL headache in the making...and then there's the clockspring.
I think I will continue to look around and see if there isn't another way. A way that apparently can't be found in this forum. Thanks anyway guys. |
