HELP: changing water pump
I am in the process of changing my water pump, but I cannot get the engine mount off. I've removed all 5 of the bolts, but where it connects to the engine half of the mount, it will not come seperated. There is a bolt hole where you can screw in one of the bolts to seperate the two, but I tried that, and the threads inside of it are now gone, so I can't use that. Is there any way that I can get this water pump off without removing the engine mount? I have the water pump loose, but I cannot seem to orient it in a way to remove it. Please help, I need to finish this very soon; I need the car tomorrow morning.

The engine mount should come off fairly easily. You do need to support the engine when removing it.

I used a big three ft. prybar to push the engine sideways without ever messing with the engine mounts. It's fast and save a LOT of time...

I never had to remove the mount or have to pry anything to remove mine.
Edit to add that I removed the pump pulley first and the angled the bracket holding the AC line. Having the NST pulley helped alot. |
