Question Does ECU flash really work, Please suggest

Hello Everyone,
Thank you so much for all your support here . All of you inspired me in many ways. I absolutely love my 2013 Yaris hatch auto and want to enjoy more of it. I have done a bunch of mods. I am looking for options to increase low end torque (stop sign to 40 feels sluggish ) i reached out to a guy in PR and he claims can do an ECU flash for stock setup. Does an ECU flash really help ? any idea on approx gains (if any) with stock setup.

Here are my mods done so far. Please suggest any mods that might help improve the low end torque.

1. 1ZZ Throttle body swap. ( car is surely peppy after this ).
2. Tanabe Medalion Touring Exhaust Axle-Back
3. Android radio install with back and front camera.
4. Auto dimming rear view mirror
5. Side mirror turn signals install.
6. Headlights assembly swap with 5K bulbs.
7. allow wheels.
8. Tach Install.
9. Under dash led strips, Shiftknob swap.
10. center console arm rest install.

A remap will release the power, exhaust and TB will not do much without it

A proper remap is require to take advantage of those mods, dont be surprised if you're running out of fuel due to the lack of pump and/or injector

Yaris world is very quiet these days so please be patient

Pretty sure the pump and stock injectors will handle those mods. I'm running a 2ZR 1.8, 440cc injectors and boosting 8 psi on the stock fuel pump and still get 11.5:1 AFR. Yeah, lots of headroom. OP, please share the contact info of your Puerto Rico guy that can remap the ECU. I've spoken to people who claim to have 'cracked' the ECU, but no definitive explanation of which parameters they can change. I'm waiting for the crack, so I can ditch my aftermarket engine management.

Thank you for the reply.

I spoke to a guy from Wilson chips, communicated with him on email and phone ( details below). He said, they can pretty much remap everything ECU based on our requirement.
He claims they dyno tested the parameters, since mine is a stock setup, he would program it accordingly.

That's great! Thanks very much. I'm going to give them a call early in the week.

EDIT: I went to their Facebook page and see that I had sent them a message in 2019. Wilson was mentioned here on Yarisworld before. Anyway, they didn't respond to message, but I did speak with an outfit (might have been them) that suggested I send my ECU to them. For around $250.00 USD, they would look into my ECU to see what was able to be modified.

Great, apart from ECU flash. Is there any piggyback ecu swap available. Just checking to avoid tampering the stock ECU

Yes! I started a chat with them through Facebook. He tells me I need to keep the AEM F/IC piggyback for fine tuning the fueling. He also mentioned a maxxmini ECU. Planning a call to them tomorrow. I'll post back what I find out as well.

The guy at https://frankensteinmotorworks.squarespace.com/ can tune Toyota ECUs. He mostly does 2ARs or 2GRs, I'm pretty sure he can do 2ZRs, but he seems too busy with his channel, so I don't know if he'd be willing to do it.
