Throttle Body Swap
This is in reference to the 1st gen Yaris/Vitz/Echo
Engine: 1NZ or 2NZ FE My engine is the 2NZ, I was reading up on 1ZZ throttle body swap on this forum when I realized that it wouldn't work for my car. My Vitz has a 3 bolt mechanical throttle body and I can't find a 3 bolt 1ZZ throttle body to match. Would I have to get an adapter plate or am I just not looking in the right places? Upon searching eBay, the only other 3 bolt Toyota throttle body I could find comes from the 98-02 Toyota Corolla with the 7AFE 1.8 I am wondering if the throttle body would work on my 2NZ. The part number is 22210-22020 Here is an example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-22210...81940c&vxp=mtr Thanks -Justin

Do you have any other supporting modifications that would make sense to make the swap? Just trying to ensure we know your goals and which way to go to help.

I will be going forced induction somewhere along the way as long as funds allow. I recently did a manual conversion, I have 4-1 headers, lightweight pulley bigger injectors & an adjustable FPR on the way.

I offer a throttle body adaptor. It allows a 4 bolt 55mm 1ZZ throttle body to be installed onto a 3 bolt manifold. The only obstacle I can see is that the 4 bolt throttlebodies are electronically operated as opposed to the cable operated 3 bolt throttle bodies. It will be 2 months before I'll have any in stock, as the CNC engineer is working on a big project, so my small orders need to wait. Greg |

any 1ZZ before '04 I think are cable operated. There's a '03 corolla in the family and it's cable operated.

Yes I know there are cable operated throttle bodies but most are 4 bolt. My question is if that 3 bolt 7A throttle body would fit on my engine.

Greg edit: Did a picture search and found this one also on ebay. Toyota is notorious for using the same parts in different applications. This one is for 99-02 1.8 Corollas and also for Geo Prizms. And this one is also for a 1998 Corolla that I had in stock. It's a 51mm bore. A guy in Australia runs it on my tooter aluminum intake manifold without the 4 bolt throttle body adaptor on his Echo... ...because he was cable operated and didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to install electronic controls. That's a big issue, if you're cable... stay cable. Greg Last edited by tooter; 04-27-2014 at 02:16 PM. |

The prices on ebay don't seem to bad so I'll give one a try and if it doesn't fit, I'll just wait for your adapter
