Well, here it is, New Toyota Vios, a.k.a Belta a.k.a Yaris Sedan...
Just launched here in sunny ol' Thailand :)
http://www.etoyotaclub.net/eNewsLetter/0703/index.html http://www.toyota.co.th/red/th/model/vios/vios_home.htm Two-tone interior strikes me as a difference first of all, and leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls (but those may just be for the top range models) Sold as a different model but pretty much the same car that you guys know as the Yaris sedan. I'll try and find brochures and see what kind of options and accessories are available, but I think this could be quite an opportunity for those sedan owners who can't stop whining nothing gets made for their car (), as the aftermarket here will definitely come up with some stuff. Wait and see...

So, needless to say, I will be on eBay looking for the mirrors, fenders with side markers, rear bumper, taillights and leather seats. That'll confuse the folks I work with.

can't really tell much of a difference other than the side mirrors and the lower rear bumper. but the interior has a change. the guages, and the trim.

Here's my (rough!) translation of the feature differences between the models, derived from here and here.
The base model is the "J" which is pretty much the same as the outgoing model: 15" steel rims, aircon standard, power steer standard, no central lock, no airbags, no electric mirrors etc. The E Spec adds the following to the J spec: Side mirror turn signals 15" Alloy Wheels Black or Cream cloth seats Electroluminescent gauges Electric side mirrors Intermittent windshield wipers Car alarm Central Lock Airbags optional And the G Spec adds the following to the E spec: Foglights Black or Cream leather seats Rear seat armrest with cupholders "MID" vehicle computer (NFI what "MID" means) Steering wheel audio controls 6-Speaker sound system Airbags included Not that no models have rear disc brakes (unlike the previous Vios), and I can't see any mention at all of ABS.. Could just be my poor Thai literacy at work though :) |

Didn't have the patience to translate all that
perhaps they will come up with an s version at some point with rear discs and such, who knows?

I can't see where they've got to go with an "S" badge other than rear discs.. even the "E" badge is getting the funky digital dash this time, and the rest of the "S" pack is now basically a "G".
Perhaps another limited edition turbo model? From what I understand, the 600 Vios turbos they built last model range sold like hotcakes, so there's gotta be 600+ people who'd do it again - I know I'd be interested to se if TRD Thailand could squeeze a bit more out of the 1NZ-FE this time 'round :) |

True, true... maybe a G "Sporty", then...
Vios Turbo? hmmm they'd better make a Yaris turbo, that would be funkier Oh and I saw a car transporter full of them about a half hour ago

Just read this in today's official press release:
"official launching of S-Limited and G-Limited In 28th Bangkok International Motor Show During March 30 – April 8, 2007" /me crosses fingers that the S-Limited has some type of forced induction that we can hack into Yarii |

And I love the gauage cluster... the blue highlights, eff'n beautiful!! So impressive And I know they the regular OEM rims, and simple.. .blahblahblah, but I REALLY love these rims. Simple, Nice. We can get them for our Yarises up here... my first "big" investment into my Yaris will be those RIMS, 15"s prolly.

I had the same rims on my Yaris LB when I bought it - they stayed on the car for a mere 10 minutes.. :)
As for the instrument cluster, I know that C-One are making a replacement for the liftback, no ideas on the sedan though. And well the mirrors, they're a dime a dozen here - USD$30-50 a pair. |
