remote start rumor...

ok, so I heard a rumor that we can actually install a remote starter on a standar '08LB, the rumor is that there's an actual sensor that tells the remote starter when the car is in neutral hence it start the car, and the best part is that because of this safety sensor it won't void the warranty...anyone care to share some light in the matter? Is it truth?

what they told me was that because in order for the remote starter to work you'll need to bypass the clutch safety pressure switch and that would void it (at least on older vehicles they told me that) now because of this rumored "neutral sensor" bypassing the pressure switch would not void anything or you wouldn't even need to touch it since you'll conect the starter to the sensor instead...

it may have changed for the 08's, but on the 07's there's a clutch sensor that needs to be bypassed, for manual cars, and the automatics have essentially the same system, so that the car must be in neutral to start, maybe that's what you are referring to?

my 04 xrs had remote start...it was s 6spd

you end up having to leave it in neutral w/ the ebrake on, or it wont work....starting the car w/o the starter i still had to push the clutch in....

never had any problems with mine, but i had it professionally installed.

acutally, i have my alarm/starter sitting in a box if you wanna buy it, lol

i can build you a neutral safety switch.. it mounts to your shift linkage and your shifter cage.

all u need is a pulse while cranking output on the rs which all DEI systems have and use that with a relay to trip the clutch wire while starting then it will work, as for actually finding a nuetral safety wire, i had no luck finding any wires in these cars.

I just did my '07 LB 5spd w/ remote start, I just pressure crimped the two wires together on the switch itself behind the clutch pedal, and there you go, no more clutch safety switch. You just have to be sure its in neutral when you leave the car or you'll have it take off on you when you start it.
