Yarris Wheel Crooked
Hi guys,
I am seeking help for a problem that ive had for a couple of months now. The left rear wheel of my yaris seems to be a little bit crooked from the inside . When i went to the garage he told me that the problem was a bent axle. I believed him so i had it changed. The problem is still there even after the axle change... Could it possibly be something with the wheel hub or weak suspension ? Is it something normal ? There is no vibrations even at high speed. My alignment is very bad and needs to be done. Cheers |

Out of curiosity, are both sides using the same axle bolt placement. If you look in front of the rear wheels (look at the chassis/body of the car), you'll see a hole, and either a bolt below (or above it if it was not installed in the factory location). I forget what the correct term for this is, but it is possible that one side was installed in one hole, and the other side in the other hole; i.e. left side was bolted down using the top hole, and the right side was bolted down using the right hole.

There are a couple pictures in the first post in that thread to what I'm referring to. Also, the rear cannot be adjusted on the Yaris. You'll need to buy shims to try to adjust/correct anything. If the axle is bolted on the same hole on both sides, you may have some frame damage on the car. What's the history with it; i.e. bought used, any accidents in its history, etc. |

They use alignment shims to fix angles on beam axles, these shims appear flat but have a thicker side and fit under the wheel bearing flange. The thing is that you need to know the current spec to know where to cut the shim to fit the flange. They can fix both toe and/or camber issues.

Thank you all for the replies !
I looked in front of the wheels and both sides are on the bottom one so the problem is not there. About the car , i bought it used to one one my girl friend and she can't recall any accidents. Me neither. Ive had the car for 2 years now and i never had an accident. Could there be something with the wheel hub or week suspension spring or the best answer is a bent frame or axel angle ? And is the shims something that a regular garage can do and at a resonnable price ? Sorry for my french i am english ! Thank you in advance ! |

The shop could do it if they do good alignments.

Just be prepared to pay "custom alignment" prices as their guidelines will tell them that the rear is not adjustable.
