my car Number plate is stolen

damn pissed now
i parked my car in driveway at 12 something. it was alright at that time.
my friends went out at 2 something this arvo, and they came back at 4 something. they saw my car's number plate (Rear) was replaced by another number plate.
then we tried to look for my number plate, of cos, at the end we could not find.

The number plate which had been put on my car was belonged to my neighbor and which had been missing from 1 and half weeks.
i called the cop already, i would not expect they would do anything with it. the police just gave me a report number to me to get a new plate from Licensing centre.

That is why i use tamper proof screws so my plates don't get pinched. A $4 investment that saves a whole heap of hassle dealing with cops and vicroads. Money well spent.

I got mine from a company called Cost Less Bolts.

Cost Less Bolts

Address

Ph: (03) 9879 5233

I'm pretty sure they do phone orders but you need to know what you want to buy as you need the bolts and the adapter to tighten them as you cant use standard tightners as they are "tamper proof"

The bolts look similar to this.

I'm not sure where you would buy them in Sydney, but check out there website anyway http://www.keyedlok.com/

A selected bunch of local police stations are giving these out for free. I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but they call it the One-Way Screw or something..

It's to combat the theft of number plates.

I beleive the ones that the police stations are offering for free are cheap one way screws. The only problem with them is if you have to change or remove your number plate, you can't.

The ones that I bothered to post above can be put in and removed when you want.

^ I think Mad Dog is right. They are one way screws, (so most likely if you'd have to destroy the screw to get it out).

But I know Auburn police station is giving them out, as it was in our local paper. It's being given out for free in 10 of the most likely places to have their plates stolen LOL. =)
