no power gains noticed with the plugs, and i didnt expect any. just more of the bling factor i guess. the plugs from hks are s35i and the stock plugs i dont have in front of my to read the part number off of them.

When I try to find the NGK number our service manual states its the IFR5A11. That part number when I out it in says its obsolete at www.sparkplugs.com , but there is a part number that comes up and it is IFR5T11 and it states that it is OEM replacement and long life iridium plug. I am just wondering if these are the same plug but maybe they just changed the part number. Then I have the task of figuring if NGK is better then Denso or the other way around.

that is the laser iridium number. you will be ok with an ngk bkr5eix. that is a non laser iridium plug and its easier to find

Hi Guys, just pulled my plugs out at 82K. I dont know much about spark plugs but they looked pretty good. just some white what I believe people call carbon build up on the stem that bends over the tip. They were NGK Iridiums, I took pictures but have not had time to upload them for viewing, not sure if anyone would be interested in seeing them.
I replaced with Denso plugs recommended in the manual, and I noticed my rough idle (wasnt anything bad I just noticed it under load, and didnt recall that when the car was new.) went away when the engine was under a load. Also my Scan Gauge is indicating initially an increase in gas mileage, I will verify today as I am traveling 150 miles and will gauge the trip from past trips in the last 3 months. I personally think based on how easy it was to change them, I will probably, since I got 82K on the last ones, I will probably change these at 150K; just for the sake that after 82K it was attributing to a rough idle and possibly a slight decrease in gas mileage/performance. Car really feels good now. |
